Jeannine Rose Maguire

By | Uncategorized | One Comment

4/13/1929 – 6/18/2017

Jeannine Rose Maguire was born in Magnet Nebraska on April 13, 1929 and grew up in Humphrey where she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) J. Maguire. Jeannine and Dick were high school sweethearts.   They were married on August 19, 1948 and were blessed with nearly 64 years of marriage prior to Dick’s passing in July 2012.

Jeannine and Dick were no strangers to hard work, starting out their marriage farming in Humphrey.   Later, Jeannine studied at Wayne State University earning her Teaching Certificate.   She loved teaching and often shared memories with her grandchildren about the day-to-day happenings inside a one-room schoolhouse.

Jeannine and Dick were blessed with three children: Cheryl, Cindy and Rick. Jeannine was always a devoted stay at home mother.

In later years, Jeannine and Dick built their own vending machine business where they worked hand in hand for many years.

Jeannine and Dick moved to their dream acreage in Blair in 1980 where they enjoyed having all the children, grandchildren, family and friends come to visit. Jeannine had a love of horses; she foaled and raised several on their property – several times spending the entire night in the barn waiting for the new arrival.

While the family home was truly a dream, the home and all the acres were a lot to keep up with. Early on Jeannine and Dick shared all the day-to-day tasks, along with help from their grandchildren, especially on summer visits (there were often heated discussions over who would get to drive the riding lawn mower).

After Dick’s passing in 2012, duties were largely taken over by Rick. Sadly Rick passed away in 2015 following a courageous, nearly 4 year battle with brain cancer. Too much for Jeannine to handle alone, she (reluctantly) sold the acreage in August 2015 and moved to an apartment in Elkhorn. Jeannine’s health started to decline and in April 2016 she moved to Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion where she lived until her passing on June 18, 2017.

Jeannine was blessed with 7 beautiful grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Jeannine was Preceded in Death by: Husband Richard “Dick” Maguire, Son: Richard “Rick” Maguire, Granddaughter: Kelly Huber, Brother: Darrell J. Bermel. Survived by Daughters: Cheryl (Mike) Doud  Rapid City, S.D. Cindy (Larry) Pearce  San Antonio, Tx.
