William (Bill) Fredrick Sewell, 79, passed away on November 12, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bill was born on December 21, 1938 in Washington DC to James and Marian Sewell. He attended Dunbar High School in Washington DC and then enlisted to serve his country as a member of the United States Air Force. During his twenty year career with the United States Air Force, Bill worked in communications. He served and was injured in the Viet Nam War. Over the years, Bill and his family were stationed in Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, various bases throughout Germany, and his last assignment at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska where he retired in 1976.

After retiring from his military service, Bill and family moved to Omaha where they started civilian life and his three youngest children finished high school. Bill entered a new career as a bus driver with Metro Area Transit (MAT) where he worked for twenty years. Upon retiring from MAT, Bill was unable to remain idle so he took on a part-time job at Hertz Car Rental for a few years transporting cars locally throughout Nebraska and Iowa. Leo H. Dorris

Leo Herbert Dorris (Duby) was born December 1, 1947 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Herbert Hoover Dorris and Leola Bertha Gunnells-Dorris.  He was named by his mother’s brother, Leroy Gunnells.  Leo was raised by his grandmother (big mamma), Minnie Geneva Gunnells.  He was also raised by his Aunt Lillie Mae Dorris who was his mother’s sister and by his uncle Bill Dorris who was his father’s brother.  His big mamma called him her little man and she’s the one who nicknamed him Dewberry, which was later shortened to Duby.  Duby attended school in Morrilton until he moved to Omaha at the age of 13 to live with his father.

Duby attended Technical High School, where he met the love of his life, Marsha Gordon.  He graduated high school in 1966 and they were married in 1967.  To their union were born two children, Geneva and David Dorris.  They celebrated 50 years of marriage last year when their children, their spouses and grandchildren hosted an amazing 50 year anniversary party in their honor.   Duby’s most proud accomplishment was his family.  You could always hear him brag on his family.  He was our hero and now he’s our angel.

Duby worked his first full-time job at Mastercraft of Omaha to put himself through high school.  He was very proud of the work he did at that job, where he made furniture.  He then began to sell insurance where he worked first for Washington National then for Prudential of Omaha.  He was top-seller on his teams most months at both companies, which was a source of pride for the entire family.  Due to stress of sales, he accepted a position at Enron.  While at Enron, Leo took college classes. He consistently tried to better himself and ended his work career at Omaha Public Power District, where he retired.

Although Duby professed a hope in Christ at an early age while still in Morrilton, he put his faith to practice as an adult and continued to profess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior throughout his illness and praised Him for His goodness.  He always thanked The Lord for allowing him to live long enough to know his two youngest grandchildren.

Duby leaves to cherish and celebrate his life his beloved wife, Marsha; children, Geneva Patterson (Terry) and David Dorris (Tiana); grandchildren, Candice Henry (Marcell), Quinten Patterson, Tiara Patterson, David (Davey) Dorris II and John (JD) Dorris; great-grandchild, Tristian Patterson; aunts, Loreatha Mayberry (Melvin) and Onella Kindle; sisters, Lezlie Floyd (Ted), Angela Dorris and Anna Mitchell (Bill); brother, Bryan Weaver; step brothers, Robert Bates (Olivia), Keith Bates (Linda) and Jonathan Gray; sisters-in-law, Clydelle Winfree and Deborah McReynolds (Curtis) and many other loving relatives and friends.

Celebration of life will be Wednesday, Nov 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel AME church, 2428  Franklin St.

Visitation will be Tuesday Nov 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Roeder Mortuary 4932 Ames Ave.

Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery 2300 S 78th St.

Chuck Nilius went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Westwood Heights Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St., Omaha, Nebraska.

Chuck was born in Chicago, Illinois; but the family soon moved to Villisca, Iowa, and then finally to Omaha, Nebraska, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Irvington High School and received a Bible degree from Omaha Bible Institute (Faith Baptist Bible College). He went on to serve on the Board of Directors at Faith Baptist Bible College for 30 years.

He met Phyllis at a church group outing, and they were soon married on June 15, 1951.

Chuck owned and operated Nilius Builders, Inc. He built and remodeled numerous homes for people all over the greater Omaha area, many times building the “next” home for repeat customers.

Chuck and Phyllis had four boys, Charles III (Skip), Larry, Tim, and Jeff.

Chuck made it a priority to travel with his family even as the “kids” got older and had their own families. Every other year they would all take a trip together, usually to Estes Park, Colorado, spending time enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.

Chuck was also an avid Husker football fan. He purchased season tickets with a family friend in 1962, and the family has the same tickets and seats to this day. Go, Big Red!!

Chuck will be missed by his wife Phyllis of 67 years, children Skip (Kathy), Larry (Cindy), Tim (Twila), and Jeff (Sandy); 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.

Chuck loved his Lord and dedicated his life to serving Christ at home and in his business. Memorials can be sent to Omaha Christian Academy and Faith Baptist Bible College. Condolences may be expressed at www.roedermortuary.com.
