Ngoan Nguyen 82, of Eustis Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends November 4^th in Omaha, NE.

Ngoan Ngoc Nguyen was born December 7, 1934 in Tinh Nam Dinh, North Vietnam. He was the oldest son with two younger brothers and two younger sisters. He attended grade school and high school in North Vietnam for most of his young life. During a brief time in 1945 -1946 his family fled to South Vietnam where he was schooled by Buddhist monks. His family returned to the North believing there would be better government stability. His family fled for a final time to the South in 1954. He served 21 years in the South Vietnamese army specializing in intelligence work and working with the United States of America. During that time, in 1969, he met and married his wife of 48 years Thao Nguyen. In 1975, hours before the fall of Saigon to communism, he escaped with his pregnant wife and three young children by Vietnamese Naval ship. They would be picked up by an American Navy transport ship in the Philippines and arrive in Guam. His family was graced by the St. John Lutheran church family in Eustis Nebraska. There his family would be sponsored and cared for by the many good families of Eustis. He worked most of his adult life as a general laborer at Monroe in Cozad, Nebraska until he retired at the age of 65. He lived in Eustis from 1975 until late 2014. From 2015- 2017, he and his wife stayed with his youngest daughter and her family in Omaha, NE due to end stage kidney disease. Ngoan loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends watching Nebraska football, playing cards, eating good food, listening to his wife sing karaoke, traveling and fishing. He is preceded in death by his father Quynh Nguyen, his mother My Vu, his brother Thieu Nguyen, his sisters Khanh Nguyen and Chung Nguyen and his youngest brother Quoc Hung Nguyen. He is survived by his wife Thao Nguyen, his children Nhung Nguyen, Mai Palmieri , Cuong Nguyen, Anh Taylor and his six grandchildren David, Hannah, Clair and Samantha Taylor and Ryan and Daniel Palmieri.

Doris Annette Anderson was born January 29, 1917 in Osceola, Nebraska, the first of five children to Carl Albin and Mabel Anderson. She grew up on a farm with her brothers Richard and Donald and sister Mary after another brother, Carl, died as an infant.

Her early years were spent on the farm, helping the family struggle through the Depression years. After graduation from Osceola High School, she taught school in a one-room, rural schoolhouse. She also worked for the local family physician and considered nursing as a career.

After battling phlebitis and an appendectomy, she moved to Omaha where she worked at Immanuel Hospital and Deaconess Home. There, she met her future husband, a tall, blue-eyed Swede from Stanton, Iowa, Martin Ellsworth Anderson, who was known to most as Andy. They were married on May 21, 1941 in the Immanuel Chapel.

When Andy’s service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in China and Burma, ended with World War II, they were reunited in Omaha and started their family, first with the birth of son Gary in 1946 and daughter Kathy in 1951. Four grand children and five great-grandchildren followed.

They spent most of their years in North Omaha, where they were longtime contributing members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Doris returned to her Immanuel roots, working as a unit secretary and later as an EKG technician before retiring in the 1980s. In 1989, her medical training was put to practical use as she administered CPR and saved Andy’s life while en route to the hospital.

Her own health history was episodic, to say the least. Besides phlebitis and an appendectomy, she also had severe blood poisoning, a stroke that left her mostly paralyzed in 1993, a heart attack, pneumonia and pancreatitis. After the stroke, she taught herself to write with her left hand. But age eventually weakened those skills.   She lived with her daughter, Kathy, for 17 years before moving to Montclair Nursing Home in 2010, at the age of 93. An avid player and frequent winner at Bingo, she spent over seven years at Montclair and celebrated her 100th birthday last January.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Kathy Anderson; son Gary Anderson and his wife, Wendy, in addition to their children, Ethan (Tracie) Anderson; Treya (Jay) Johnson; Alex (Gretchen Alms) Anderson and Noah Anderson, and great-grandchildren Ainsley and Beckett Anderson, Lily and Myles Johnson and Finlan Anderson.

A selfless woman, Linda was usually found at her children’s activities, keeping her husband in line, in her garden, or crafting – always with her beloved dogs at her feet. Linda embraced each day, never letting her 4 year battle with breast cancer hinder her joy in celebrating the beauty of each moment. Whether swimming with dolphins, strolling the beaches of Jamaica, binging on ice cream, or spending time with family and friends, her smile warmed everyone around her.

Linda’s compassion and desire to help others led to a long career as an educational assistant supporting students with special needs in Cedar Rapids School District, Millard and Gretna community schools.

Linda joined her heavenly family in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends, Oct. 14, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Derald S. Loomis, III, daughter Amanda, and son Alexander, as well as her parents, Ken and Linda Banker, her loving brothers and sister, and devoted pets, Romeo and Athena. The lives of countless others will be forever blessed by knowing Linda.

A celebration of Life will be held at Roeder Mortuary, 11710 Standing Stone Dr., Gretna, Nebraska, Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 1:00 pm.  Joyful attire requested to be worn to service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Linda’s honor.

She entered into rest on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at her home.  Janice was a Daycare provider and loved by all that knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

Janice was preceded in death by her grandson; Joshua Shira, parents; Clyde Osborne and Juanita Jama, sister; Clydeen Marion Osborne and nephew; Timothy Echo Jones.

Janice is survived by her children; Marion Reeves, Mindy Darnaby, Windy Thompson, Andrew Thompson and Rahja Porter, 15-grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, sisters; Beverly Mellow, Linda Rudolf, Carol Sue Williams and April McBride, brothers; Buddy Osborne, Butch Osborne, Terry Osborne, Bill Osborne, Dale Osborne and Del Osborne,nieces, nephews family and friends.
