Opal N. Washington

Opal Nadine McAllister Washington was the second child born of Clarence and Queena Mae McAllister on March 6, 1934 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Opal was baptized at an early age as a Methodist. Opal was married to the late Raymond L. Washington; she also was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara. She leaves to morn: two daughters Debbie of Delaware and Ramona of Omaha; one son Greg of Omaha; one sister Ruth; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and friends.

Kenneth “Ken” Bowley

10/21/1960 – 8/16/2015

Kenneth Richard Bowley, son of Richard and Judith Bates Bowley, was born October 21, 1960, in Fort Meade, Maryland. At the age of 7 months, Ken moved to Omaha, NE, with his parents. Later, he worked with his father in the family business, Bowley Roofing, followed by many years with Leach Camper Sales.

Ken enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time on the Platte River, fishing, gardening, his gun collection and attending drag races but most of all he cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and his dogs. On Sunday, August 16, 2015, Ken passed away unexpectedly at home in Omaha, NE, at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 25 days.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 29 years, Carol; son Dylan (Laura) Bowley; twin daughters: Lindsay Bowley (fiancé Jeramy Swain) all of Omaha and Lauren (Ryan) Wilcox of Council Bluffs, IA; granddaughters Haylee, Harper and Hadley Wilcox and Annalie Bowley; parents Richard and Judy Bowley; grandmother Maxine Lorraine Powers; sister Deb (Bill) Knight; father and mother-in-law Roger and Janice Hass plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Stanley L. Pierce, Sr.

Stanley L. Pierce, Sr. was born April 15, 1940, in Omaha, NE. He attended Omaha Public Schools, where he participated in ROTC, Wrestling and other school activities. Stanley graduated from Central High School. He also attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Later, God led him to Salem Baptist Church and he became a member for over 40 years.

Stanley was united in Holy Matrimony to Esther Pierce, and to this union three children were born. Years later, he married Charlsie Doris Pierce. And with this union, two great families became as one.

God blessed Stanley with many talents. He loved his family and friends. He was a loving father, a man of great hospitality, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. A hard working man, a good provider, he enjoyed cooking for everyone. Stanley was an excellent Chef. Also, he loved music and sports. He will be greatly missed.

When Stanley was age 14, his first employment was with Omaha World Herald as a paper carrier. Later on, Stanley became Co-Owner or The RITZ CAB CO. He managed a Janitorial Service, and for a short time he became and Omaha Police Officer. His next position was at Offutt Air Force Base, where he held multiple positions: Head Chef, Fireman, and Civil Service Engineer. Finally, after working for 35 years, he retired.

Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Charlsie D. Pierce; his father Claude Pierce, Sr.; and his mother Eugenia E. Pierce; two brothers Dr. Reuben G, Pierce, and Claude Pierce, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Gwen Pierce (Kenneth) Rigby, and Regina Pierce of Omaha, NE, and Esther Pierce of Minneapolis, MN; sons Kelechi (Angela) Jaavaid of Minneapolis, MN, and stepson Michael (Angie) Baxter of Omaha, NE; sisters Lenore M. Heins of Los Angeles, CA, and Jean Jackson of Rancho Santé Fe, CA; special granddaughters Janae Pierce, Venecia Niecy (Jonnie) Jones, LaRonda Brown, and LaTosha (Tyrone) White of Omaha, NE; special grandsons Avanti Pierce of Denver, CO, Donnell Pierce, Niles Jaavaid of Milwaukee, WI, and Londell Parham of Omaha, NE; special nephew Dr. Bobby Gillespie of Rancho Santé Fe, CA; great-grandchildren Avanti Pierce, Jr., Monica Ricketts, and Laschell Parham; great-great-granddaughter Caydence Pierce; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

5/21/1939 – 8/7/2015

Omaha – Age 76

Passed away August 7, 2015. Preceded in death by Earl Early. Survived by daughter Cheryl; brother Taff Overton (Wilhelmena); grandchildren Russell Barker, III (Amber), Emmanuel Cook (Janet), Ashleigh Barker; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; niece Olivia Tucker; devoted cousin Pastor Peter Smart Smartt; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She graduated from Elsberry High School. Class of ’55. She retired from American Red Cross after 35+ years of service. While at Red Cross, she established the American Red Cross/Charles Drew Blood Mobil. She was a member of God’s Missionary Baptist Church. She was also active in many community programs, such as: Highlander Neighborhood Association, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #30, and Pleasant View Neighborhood Study Center. She was the community liaison for Omaha Police Department NE Precinct.

She will be dearly missed.

Antwaun W. Rollerson

Antwaun Rollerson, son to Salema & James Hunter and David & Denice Rollerson was born on May 14th 1991 in Omaha, NE. He attended Central High School where he played basketball on the state championship team and was involved with the youth organizations Young Life and 100 Black Men of Omaha. He then continued his Academic career at the University of Nebraska Omaha majoring in Finance/Investment Science and Portfolio Management. He was in his senior year and only one semester away from graduation.His involvement at the university included being the President of the Alpha Eta chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity incorporated, a Goodrich Scholar, and an All American Basketball player.  Antwaun worked part time at the YMCA of Omaha on the Teen Staff for 2 years. He also held a position on the McMillan Magnet school staff where he worked in After School Programming. Antwaun was passionate about God, family, Youth Development, and chasing his dreams! Some of his future plans included finishing his degree, moving to Dallas, Texas with longtime girlfriend Jaqailah Bell, and starting his own mentoring program. Antwaun is survived by his parents and a host of brothers and sisters including: Jarrell Walker, Ramaar Burtley, Jason Walker, JaVon Walker, Anthony Mann, DeShon Rollerson, NaTasha Rollerson-Gordon, Janessa Stewart, Yanique Rollerson, NaQuecia Rollerson, Denisha Franklin-Rollerson, Quashala Davis, Jalisha Mann, and Kimmieth Gordon.
