Lola Mae Watkins

Lola Mae Watkins was born on May 3, 1924 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was the eighth child born to Jesse and Schrilda Shields. The family moved to Omaha from St. Joseph Missouri.
Lola attended Westside Elementary School, Indian Hills, and South High School. She had various jobs in her life. She worked at Raghouse, Poultry House, and Packing House. She retired as a supervisor from Immanuel Hospital over housekeeping.
Mom accepted Jehovah in her life over 50 years ago. She loved to go out and witness on Saturday and tried not to miss a conference. As kids, we could not go outside until we studied with her. She loved the hall.
As kids mom would say to us when we had done something wrong: Alright, I’m going to “wake you up happy”. Needless to say ‘Happy’ wasn’t what we thought it would be (Smile).
Mama was preceded in death by parents Jesse and Schrilda Shields, 6 brothers Harold Edward, Willard Anson, Ernest, Noah, Ralph, Jesse Fenton, Nathaniel Archie and baby brother Noah; 2 sons Jesse Willard and Eugene Shields.

She leaves to mourn her passing: sons Kenneth Raymond long, Harold (Linda) Shields, Nathaniel Hall (Larry); 2 daughters Carolyn T Williamson (Charles), Beverly Shields; Daughter in Law Juanita Shields; 3 nieces Edith Nelson, Mary Lou Jones, and Agnes (Dwight) Lewis. All of Omaha Nebraska. She also leaves 30 Grandchildren, 65 Great Grandchildren, and 20 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Our family is deeply indebted to Mom’s caregivers: the fabulous Toroy and Joe Jones. We appreciate all that you have done.

A wake service will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 at 2PM at Roeder Mortuary – 4932 Ames Ave. Her Memorial Service is to be held at 2PM Tuesday July 14th at the Kingdom Hall on 5465 Fontenelle Blvd.
