Age 72

Omaha. Born in Carroll, IA, and graduated from Kuemper (Carroll) Catholic High School. He was a long-serving employee of Union Pacific Railroad and the State of Nebraska. As a longtime resident of Gretna, NE, he devoted himself to the community, serving at various times as Vice President of the Gretna Baseball Foundation, President of the Gretna Optimist Club, Post Adjutant and Post Commander of Gretna American Legion Post 216, and a volunteer firefighter with the Gretna Fire and Rescue Department. He was a Vietnam-era veteran, serving in the Army Reserves for six years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, hunting, and fishing. . Preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Mary.  Survived by wife Laura of 36 years, son Justin (Kaitlyn) of Milwaukee, WI, and daughter Lindsay of Dallas, TX; siblings Roger (Rita) and Mary Lee Tifft (Bill) of Omaha, and Dan (Mary Lou) of Breda, IA.

Visitation: Monday 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Funeral Service Tuesday 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church   11204 S 204th Street – Gretna, NE  Nebraska In Lieu of Flowers, the family request.  Memorials to: America’s Fund (americasfund.org).

Omaha.  Survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Mary of Brooklyn, NY and Ellen of Salt Lake City, UT; stepdaughters, Buffy (Dan) Baca and Beth (Brian) Nodes; stepson, Brett(Kari) Bennett;  step grandchildren, Nick, David, Matt, Brittany, Taylor, Grace, Sam, Hailey, Ben and Brooke ; brother, Richard (Ruth) of Golden, CO; sister-in-law, LaVaughn of Sarasota, CA and a number of nieces and nephews.  Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Sisi and his brother, Robert.
