Matthew Culliver Sr.

Matthew Culliver Sr. departed this life on January 23, 2018 at 75 years of age. He was born December 17, 1942 in Conecah County, Alabama to Cull and Willie Mae Culliver. He was the sixth child of ten children; his twin sister Mattie; sisters, Willa, Georgia, Hattie, Annie Ruth, Armatha; brothers, John, Richard and Ezell Sr.

He attended Sandy Grove Baptist Church where he was actively involved in Sunday School and also accepted Christ at an early age. Matthew attended Conecah County High School. Upon leaving high school he moved to Detroit in 1965. After several years in Detroit, he moved to Omaha in 1969 and started work at O’Neil Packing Company until his death.

Matthew enjoyed gardening, singing, dancing, Cowboy movies, softball and even had his own softball league and of course his “Pepsi”. He also liked being the life of the party, there was never a dual moment when he was around especially when it came to him and his sister Armatha. But most of all he enjoyed his time with his brother Richard. They were like two peas in a pod. Matthew had a heart of gold and enjoyed his family and life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cull Culliver; mother, Willie Mae Culliver; son, Peter Lavon Culliver; sisters, Annie Ruth McKinley and Armatha King; brother, Ezell Culliver.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 33 years, Patricia Culliver; children, Rodney (Karen) Culliver, Maleava K. Culliver, Courtney (Alisha) Duncan, Willia Mae, Crystal and Nathaniel Shelly, James Hollimon, Matthew Culliver Jr.; step-children, Tonya Morgan, Claudy Morgan, YaVone Davis; sisters,  Willa Pearl Marion, Georgia Ruth Stevens, Mattie Wright, Hattie Mae (Edmond) Livingston; brothers, John (Georgia) Culliver and Richard (Gabriella) Culliver; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday January 28th from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Roeder Mortuary 50th Ames Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday January 29th at 1:00 P.M. at Sharon S.D.A. Church, 3336 Lake Street, Omaha, NE. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, 7602 Military Ave. Omaha, NE.

Johnny Siebert

Siebert, Johnny   4/18/1921 – 1/11/2018

Johnny was born April 18, 1921 to Henry and Maria (Friesen) Siebert on a farm in Hamilton County NE. Johnny was the second oldest of 10 children in the family, farming on two different farmsteads west of Henderson, NE. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1940. In 1941 Johnny moved with his parents and family to Luton, IA, where he farmed with them.

Johnny first learned the need of having a personal relationship with God during the summer tent evangelistic campaign in 1934, which resulted in him making a definite decision for salvation in Jesus Christ. He was then baptized in the Blue River south of Henderson and joined the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in the summer of 1935.

Johnny married Anna (Isaac) on August 12, 1945. After farming near Luton, Iowa for one year, they moved to Omaha, NE where Johnny attended and graduated from Grace Bible Institute. Johnny & Anna raised 4 children: Lee, Cherry, Steve, and Loren.

In April of 1951, Johnny & Anna and their first two children sailed to Japan where they entered into missionary service where their two other children were born. Johnny & Anna served in a blessed, fruitful ministry for 38 years. They retired and moved to Lincoln, NE in 1989, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 2005.

They moved to Skyline Retirement Community in Omaha in 2006, where Anna went to be with Lord in 2007. Johnny continued living in the various care levels at Skyline until his death January 11, 2018..

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; daughter-in-law, Margaret; and 5 siblings. He is survived by his children Lee (Cheryl), Portland, OR; Cherry (Gary) Warrick, Fort Calhoun, NE; Steve (Beverly) of Hasting-on-Hudson, NY; Loren of Portland, OR; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings; and other family and friends.

Memorials may be given for the Ome Church and the Camp in Okutama Valley where Johnny & Anna lived and served while in Japan for 38 years.
