Of Gretna,

Claire M. Enstrom was born to Richard and Edith (Johnson) on December 27,1934 at the Oakland Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska.

He lived on a farm west of Oakland, Nebraska with his parents and attended District #74 country school for eight years. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1953.

On December 15,1956 Claire married Ardis Helms at West Side Methodist Church in rural Oakland.  They lived in Grand Junction, Colorado for two years where he worked for Mayhew Oil Company. They moved back to Fremont, NE. and started working at Western Electric in Millard, NE. They later moved to Elkhorn, NE. where they lived for nine years and moved to Gretna in 1967. Claire retired from AT&T in 1988. He then worked part time for Farmers Union Coop in Gretna until health forced him to quit.

He was a member of West Side Methodist Church in Oakland and Gretna Methodist Church. He was on a softball team for West Side Methodist Church, active in the Elkhorn Lions Club and a volunteer fireman on the Gretna Fire and Rescue. He belonged to Eagles Club in Fremont and several bowling leagues in Elkhorn. Claire also served on the Board of Trustees at the Methodist Church in Gretna.

Claire loved to fish, hunt and cheer on the Nebraska football team.

Survivors include his wife Ardis, many nieces and nephews and surrogate granddaughter Caity Clark. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers and spouses Leroy (Ruth), Elmon (Helen), William (Viola), Leland (Ethel), and his sister LaMae (Bill Rundle and Byron Brainerd).

William J. Reh Jr.,

6/27/1951 – 3/9/2017

Omaha – Lt. Col. William J. (Bill) Reh, Jr. of Omaha passed away on 3/9/17. Bill, the son of William J. Reh and Irene (Boytin) Greene, was born in Kingston, PA on 6/27/51. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Wilkes College graduating in 1976 and receiving a commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. He served as an intelligence officer with tours in the US, Germany, and Korea retiring from SAC HQ at Offutt AFB on 7/31/97. After his retirement, Bill worked for a short time as a defense contractor and then as a Department of the Air Force civilian at SAC HQ and US Strategic Command, retiring on 3/1/17, having served his country for over 45 years.

Bill was an avid shooter, participating in the NRA sponsored events each year at Camp Perry, Ohio as well as other local events. He was an active Mason and Shriner, a member of the G. W. Lininger Lodge #268, AF & AM, Omaha Valley Scottish Rite, and the Tangier Shrine.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Byrnes) Reh and his son Will, beloved pets Kristan, Scooby, Buddy and Skippy. Visitation will be held at the Roeder Mortuary 2727 N 108th Street Omaha, NE. on March 17th from 5 PM until 7 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM. The funeral will be held on Saturday March 18th at 1 PM at the mortuary. Bill is to be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in the near future. STANLEY R BALES OF OMAHA, NE DIED 03/10/17. HE WAS BORN ON 02/24/1929 AT BONILLA, SD TO THE LATE JAMES AND LILLIE MAE (BUSSELL) BALES. HE ATTENDED BONILLA CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL THROUGH SENIOR YEAR IN 1947, HURON COLLEGE FROM 1947 THROUGH 1949.

HE WORKED IN CIVIL ENGINEERING WITH THE CITY OF HURON, SD FROM 1949 THROUGH 1950. HE WAS DRAFTED INTO THE US ARMY ON 01/18/1951. HE SERVED UNTIL10/17/1952. HE SERVED WITH THE 19TH ENGINEER COMBAT GROUP IN THE KOREAN WAR FROM JUNE OF 1951 UNTIL APRIL OF 1952.

AFTER HIS DISCHARGE HE RETURNED TO HURON, SD IN NOVEMBER OF 1952 WORKING WITH HARRIS & PIERCE ENGINEERING CO. IN MAY OF 1953 HE WORKED FOR THE CITY OF HUROJN AS A FIELD ENGINEER UNTIL AUGUST OF 1953.

HE MARRIED AVIS E SEVERANCE ON 08/23/1953 IN HURON, SD. AVIS DIED ON 01/11/2002.

HE THEN ENROLLED AS A CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT AT SOUTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITYWHERE HE GRADUATED WITH A B.S. IN CIVIL ENGINEERING.

HE WAS THE ASSITANT CITY ENGINEER FOR THE CITY OF HURON FROM JUNE OF 1956 THROUGH MAY OF 1957. AFTER THAT HE WAS THE CITY ENGINEER OF MITCHELL, SD FROM JUNE OF 1957 THROUGH MAY OF 1959. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS AN ENGINEER IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF OMAHA, NE. HE SERVED AS ASSISTNAT SEWER ENGINEER UNTIL NOVEMBER OF 1961 AND THEN BECAME SEWER ENGINEER THROUGH FEBRUARY OF 1963. FROM MARCH OF 1963 THROUGH JANUARY OF 1966 HE WAS A DESIGN ENGINEER. THEN FROM FEBRUARY OF 1966 THROUGH SEPTEMBER OF 1969 HE WAS A CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER.

HE STARTED WORKING FOR ELLIOT & BLACK IN OCTOBER OF 1969. HE BECAME A PARTNER AND WORKED AS A SENIOR ENGINEER FROM JUNE OF 1976 UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT ON 05/01/1991.

STAN WAS A COACH FOR YOUTH BASEBALL. HE WAS ALSO AN OFFICIAL FOR BASKETBALL AND FOOTBALL. HE WAS A VETERAN OF THE KOREAN WAR AND A MEMBER OF THE VFW.

STAN IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE AVIS, HIS PARENTS, HIS 8 BROTHERS, HIS SISTER, AND HIS GRANDSON GREG STEED. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS 3 CHILDREN: DICK AND HIS WIFE DONNA AND GRANDDAUGHTER DR. ELIZABETH (LIZ) BALES OF CALIFORNIA; RUTH STEED AND HIS GRANDSON MIKE STEED AND 2 GREAT GRANDSONS, NATHAN & GREGORY STEED OF LIMA, OHIO; HIS DAUGHTER MARY COLEMAN AND GRANDAUGHTER DR. Omaha – Proceeded in death by parents, Clarence and Aledra Kaestner , father in law Frank Jones and sister in law Sherryl Jones. Survived by wife of 43 years Shirley (Jones) Kaestner, son Kristopher (Julie) and granddaughter Adalyn Kaestner, mother in law Darlene Jones; many family and friends. Graduate of UNO. Co-founder of Control Management Inc. Longtime member of John J Mercer Masonic Lodge and Tangier Shrine. Enjoyed driving his little red convertible in many Shrine parades. Member of St Michael Lutheran Church. The family offers many thanks to the caregivers of Methodist Hospice.
