I just saw Candy in March when we met for coffee when my husband and I were in Omaha. We talked as always of our families, politics and our faith. My catchup visits were always one of the must dos and highlights of Omaha visits. She was happy and seemed healthy.
I met Candy in High School at Benson High. We were in Spanish class together and became good friends. We were roommates our freshman year at NU and remained close during college. Candy sang at our wedding and visited me in Texas several times.
Candy was one of my closest friends and I was stunned and heartbroken to learn of her sudden passing. My comfort is I will see her again in heaven where I know she is celebrating with Jesus and His angels.
I am so sorry to hear of Candy’s death. Candy and I were childhood friends on Manderson Street in Omaha in the 1950’s. We had neighborhood ballgames in an empty lot on the street, Candy and I were usually the captains as we were the oldest and Candy’s team usually won. After my family moved our parents stayed close, but I seldom saw Candy as we went to different schools. In fact, I didn’t see her again until 2015 when she was taking her Mother, Laura, to visit my Mom at her apartment and Mom asked me to come over and see them. After that we saw each other often at my Mother’s. After my Mom had to go to a Nursing Home we stayed in connect via email. We enjoyed discussing mystery movies and books, as well as the health of our families. I miss those discussions already. She seemed in such good health, her death is a shock. My prayers go out to Victor and Candy’s entire family.
