5/17/1938 – 2/22/2016

His life began as most Midwestern life does, in a small town. Wausa, Nebraska was his home for 18 years where he grew up as most people do in a large family…learning how to survive. He lost his mother at 4 years old and was raised by his father and siblings who molded him into the man he became… a strong, determined man, who one day would become the loving father and patriarch we all know. As he matured he ran the typical course of young adulthood and joined the service. After his service, he traveled west in search of adventure but his heart belonged to Nebraska. Upon returning, he met and fell in love with his beloved wife of 48 years, Maryann Dammann, they raised three children, and in turn influenced the lives of eleven grandchildren.

There are many words to describe Harley – ornery, mischievous, generous, and talented are only a few but the most obvious, was joyous. The happiness he received from helping and teaching his children is what gave him life. The joy it gave him to help and teach others strengthened the foundation of his faith.

The world was a much better place when Harley was a part of it…now Heaven just got that much better. Since 1938, Harley Newman shined his passion for life on everyone he met and his was the impression that was everlasting. His ability to either converse with scholars or labor in creativity was unmatched and will serve as a lesson for all that knew him and those who were influenced by him. His uncanny wit and happy go lucky nature, however simple in its effort, inspired, bewildered, and amazed. Harley will be dearly missed and although he may be gone from our eyes he will live in eternity in our hearts.

Harley is survived by loving Wife of 48 years: Maryann; Children: Linda (Ray) Martens, Stewart Newman, Jane (Kevin) Westring; Grandchildren: Ashley, Sean, Kelsey, Mitchell, Elijah, Emma, Ethan, Allison, Jacob, Evan, Zachary, Lucas, Amelia; Great- Grandchild: Liam; 1 Brother; 5 Sisters; Nieces, Nephews and other loving family and friends; Preceded in death by 1 Sister.

Visitation Thursday 5-7 PM at 108th Chapel; Service 11:00 AM Friday (2/26/2016) at St. Paul United Methodist Church 5410 Corby St Omaha, NE; Interment Mount Hope Cemetery at Omaha, NE

The Journey Chosen for Ralph Edward Lillard

RALPH EDWARD LILLARD, was born November 12, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert and Theola Lillard. Ralph shared his parents with four other siblings. Ralph fought a long hard battle and his journey here on earth came to an end when he transitioned from life to life on Friday, February 12, 2016 to join his mother and father in heaven.

Ralph graduated with his high school diploma and later became a truck driver in California, he was an iron employee and a construction worker. Anyone that knew Ralph, knew that he was a hard worker. Ralph was a quiet person but was very firm and to the point.

Ralph would attend church at an early age along with his family. Although he never joined any particular church, Ralph loved the Lord and carried him in his heart everywhere he went. Ralph loved to play pool and as Ralph got older, Ralph loved sitting up under the tree located on 24th and Sprauge where he found peace of mind from time to time.

Ralph will be missed by all of us that knew him. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his son, Ralph Jackson; a loving sister who was Ralph’s care taker until he went to be with the Lord, Crystal Meadows (Keith); Ralph’s other two loving sisters, Deborah Lillard & Cheryl Allen (James); Two brothers, Eric Lillard & Robert Lillard, Jr. (Martha); special thanks and undying support to the three special friends who came to see about Ralph – Clark, Lawrence, and Jonathan; he also leaves to cherish his memories, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
