Gloria Diane (Dreessen) Baran was born on August 7, 1941 to Arthur and Henrietta (Blum) Dreessen. She was raised on a farm in the heart of Millard and graduated from Millard High School in 1959. She attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and received a Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology from the University Nebraska Medical Center. Gloria married LaVern (Vern) Baran in 1971 and had 3 daughters Angela, Susan, and Lori. She was head of the hematology lab at University until 1973. She had a brilliant and creative mind and returned to her profession after raising her family, working at Bergan Mercy Hospital until she retired in 2003. Gloria had a love of music, flowers, birds, painting, sewing, reading and was an avid sports fan. Strong in her faith, she was active in choir and a Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick’s church in Gretna. She shared her kindness, positive attitude and great sense of humor with many neighbors and friends. Most of all, Gloria loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandkids. She was a mother figure to many beyond her family and will truly be missed. Preceded in death by parents Arthur & Henrietta Dreessen. Survived by husband Vern, daughters Angela Baran, Susan Bernier (Douglas), Lori Baran, grandchildren Benjamin, Alexander, Lillian Bernier, brother Robert Dreessen (Linda), nieces, nephews and many family & friends.

10/20/1941 – 1/20/2016

Omaha – Clyde and Flora Brookins moved to Omaha, NE where they later married on July 20, 1960. In conjunction to this union, they were blessed with five children: Stanley E. Brookins, Lutricia A. Brookins-Lowe (deceased), Katheryn Q. Brookins, Angela Brookins, and Daitina Brookins. He was a member at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for several years and later joined Prince of Peace Baptist church, serving as deacon and bass guitar player for both churches and choirs. He was also in three quartet groups: Sensational Soul, Gospel Travelers, and Echo’s of Melody. He was also in the all male choir at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Excelsior Lodge #2. In Clyde’s allotted time he enjoyed taking care of his yard and doing lawn care services. He continued this until his heart no longer allowed him to. He also enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, and westerns.

Clyde E. Brookins, Jr. made his transition on January 20th, 2016 around 10:30 a.m. Our Father called him home, for his work here on Earth was complete. May God bless your soul and forever rest in peace. Brother Brookins touched and inspired many lives and will be remembered by all of those who knew him. Clyde E. Brookins, Jr. is preceded in death by parents Clyde E. Brookins, Sr. of Memphis, TN and Ola Henrietta Hamer of Rochester, NY; daughter Lutricia A. Brookins-Lowe of Omaha, NE; sister Barbara Dora Hicks; George Brookins of Omaha, NE; Gracie Gray of Holly Springs, MS; Ola Bell of Rochester, NY; Freddie Brookins of Atlanta, GA; Della Brookins of Rochester, NY; Wesley Brookins of Memphis, TN and Travis Brookins of Memphis, TN.

Brookins of Omaha, NE, Jessica Brookins of Colorado, Marcus Loux of Omaha, NE, Christopher Brookins of Colorado, Sheilo Brookins of Omaha, NE, Samuel Brookins of Omaha, NE, Alexis Brookins of Omaha, NE, Tyrese Brookins of Omaha, NE, Devaris Brookins of Omaha, NE, Elijah Brookins of Omaha, NE, and Joshua Brookins of Omaha, NE. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

LaMoine “Lee” Wigent

Lee was born on a farm 10 miles northeast of Ord, NE, where he spent his growing up years. He was an only child, having four siblings who died shortly after birth. He graduated from high school in Woodburn, OR, and attended business school in Chicago. He served in WWII, and spent the entire time at a Station Hospital in Recife, Brazil. His career was with KN Gas Company where he became a division manager. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. During his entire life, he busied himself with woodworking, genealogy, collecting recipes, raising various species of creatures, and other hobbies too numerous to mention. When he got his first computer in the early 1980’s, all other hobbies paled in comparison. He was still active on it in his 90’s.His gentle nature and gift for keeping in touch and including others made him loved and respected by family and friends.

Preceded in death by 4 infant siblings; first wife Merna to whom he was married 57 years; Survived by wife: Pauline to whom he was married 15 years; daughters: Deannie (Bob) Price, Kathy Govier; 7 grandchildren: Jay (Valetta) Price, Corey (Stacey) Price, Darin (Jannie) Price, April (Corey) Falzone, Curt (Jessica) Pedersen, Matt (Christy) Pedersen, Brad Pedersen; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; Also survived by stepdaughters: Linda (Steve) Longwell, Carol (Rusty) Rushton; 3 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren.
