Donna R. Collins

10/22/1937 – 11/20/2015

Donna Rae Collins was born on October 22, 1937 and the daughter of Hazel Sanders and Randal Bovee. Donna was raised with her sister and mother and step-father, Larney “Buck” Baker.

Donna married her husband, Arley B. Collins, on July 31, 1954. Donna and Arley traveled a lot with Arley being in the military.

Donna and Arley settled in Omaha and had 4 children: Arley B. Collins, Jr. (Denise), Arleen “Sissy” B. Collins, Patricia “Tricia” Collins (Lenny), and Phillip Collins (Meg); lots of grandchildren: Nadine, April, Arley J., Taylor, Brandon, Nate, and Dayton; 2 great-grandchildren: Terria and Michael, plus one on the way; and her dog: Velvet, too.

Donna is now joined in eternal life with her mother: Hazel; step-father: Buck; and beloved husband: Arley.

Donna was always known as the caretaker of all and always will be from above.

Her final resting place will be with Arley at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

S. James Herron (Jim)

           S. James “Jim” Herron was born on July 16, 1947 in Omaha, NE to Marion E. Little and Stanley Herron. He is the oldest of 6 children. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marion Allen, and younger brother, Joseph Allen. Survived by his siblings: Lisa (Stephen) Reynolds , Sheri (Jim) Stewart, Debra (Joseph) McEwan, and Lori (Ron) Peterson. Also nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Tim) West with daughters Kaylee and Ilyssa, David (Cristin) Nowak with their children Carter and Avery, Maureen (Seth) Bray with their daughters Elizabeth and Lauren, Amanda Reynolds with her son Hunter, Christian Reynolds, and Cody McEwan.

        Jim was a decorated Vietnam Veteran in the Army’s 101st Airborne. He won the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces and the Army Commendation Medal for Exceptionally Meritorious Achievement. He was in the Army from August of 1968 to November of 1969. He was stationed in Danang and Hue in Vietnam.

        After Jim came home from Vietnam, he went straight to work to help support his mother and siblings. He worked for Douglas County Bank as a Teller, where he got his start doing computer programming.

       In 1973, he began working at Commercial Federal Savings and Loan as a systems programmer. He worked with the company until 1992. He then began his 23 year career at Methodist Health Systems, where he was a Senior Systems Analyst. He was a very dedicated employee and loved by all of his coworkers.

       Jim also loved the Arts and Music. In the 1990’s he volunteered at the Omaha Community Playhouse as the stage manager, the sound and lighting and worked on making sets for the musicals. For the last 10 years he devoted his spare time with the Florentine Players. He was very involved within all aspects of this company. For a period of time, he was the President and Membership Chair. He also did the lighting for all of the shows and melodramas for which he got his nickname “Sparky”. Florentine Players and their wonderful family was his home away from home. He was also a member of the Theater Arts Guild (TAG).

         On August 30th, 2014, Jim was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4. His first symptom was the loss of peripheral vision on the left sides of both eyes.He had brain surgery in September to remove most of the tumor, he then went through several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. Jim had several setbacks along the way. He got through every bit of it with dignity and unrelenting composure. In early October 2015, Jim began to have complications and soon after was notified that he had multiple tumors and there was nothing more the doctors could do for him. Jim passed away on Thursday, November 19th, 2015, with his 2 devoted sisters, Lisa and Deb, by his side.

        Although, Jim never got to have his own personal family, he was a devoted son, brother and uncle. He loved his family and many friends and coworkers. He was a brilliant man, with many talents and will be severely missed.

Larry J. Rollins

5/13/1950 – 10/31/2015

Larry Rollins, 65, Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015. Born in 1950 to James and Gloria Rollins, Larry grew up in Kearney, Nebraska. In 1973 he received a B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska in electrical engineering. He met and married Kathryn Crumley that same year. After graduation he became a branch administrative manager for Westinghouse Electric Supply Company. He went on to own Karmelkorn Shoppes in Boulder and Greeley, Colorado.

Kathryn and Larry were married for 42 years and raised 2 sons. Larry was a deacon in his church and very involved in Boy Scouts of America.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, father, and step-mother, Audette Rollins. He is survived by wife, Kathryn; sons, Nathaniel (Amanda), and Kristopher (Ashley); grandchildren, Sean, James, and Ava; sisters, Sandra Volmer (Bill), Diane Rindone (Joe), and Bernadette Dudgeon.

Memorial service: 11 am, Saturday, November 21, Presbyterian Church of the Master, 10710 Corby Circle, Omaha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lewy Body Dementia Association.
