PRIVATE FAMILY BURIAL: in the Afternoon

Memorials may be directed to the family for Janelle.

The evening Lisa was born, she was our only child to come out screaming, and little Craig (3.5) was terrified as he held her. (Don’t be too sad for Craig, he more than got even during the following years). This should have definitely given us a clue about her personality; determination, stubbornness, opinionated, yet caring, loving, optimistic, forgiving, not as fearless as she often projected, kind, and Lisa was so cute with her blue glasses in elementary school. She grew up until middle school in West Omaha participating in soccer and dance. We had the perfect neighborhood for kids, as they were everywhere. After her Dad and Mom divorced, Lisa moved to Yutan, NE just west of Omaha. She participated in volleyball, junior achievement and cheerleading. She attended hairstyling school after high school, but found it difficult to be around the chemicals in combination with the overall ability to make money, so she left the field. She worked at Menards in Omaha and Hannibal, MO, then moved back to Omaha and bartended for a while, but then moved into the insurance field, which she dearly loved. She was a single mom, and Janelle was by far the number one priority in her life. She really took care of that little girl and they definitely lived and loved life together. Janelle was the reason Lisa fought like a lion to stay alive as long as possible, and was the biggest heartbreak for Lisa passing onto heaven, that she wouldn’t be able to interact with her growing up. In 2015 she met Paolo, in October of 2016 Lisa was first diagnosed with cancer, and had surgery in November. Lisa was pronounced cancer free in March 2016 after radiation and chemo. In July, Lisa started having pain in her pelvis and was finally diagnosed with metastasized cervical cancer in October 2017. Paolo and Lisa were married in December 2017. Their marriage was anything but normal, with Lisa traveling to Mexico for immunotherapy treatment, and then to Santa Barbara for followup treatment. As her cancer worsened, someone had to be with Lisa all the time, which made things more difficult.

The most important part of her life was her Christian faith. At 8 years old she knelt next to an amour in her bedroom, and asked Jesus to come into her heart. She lived life and gradually lost her zeal for her faith. Fortunately, the God we serve is always faithful, as he was constantly pursuing her heart. She went to church off and on after high school graduation, but could hardly walk into a church without weeping. Around 2014, she started attending church more frequently, and after Pampa (Grandpa Don) passed in May of 2015, she really started attending and rededicated her life to the Lord. She stated at one point, “I didn’t realize how lost I was.” As her cancer worsened there were numerous attempts by satan to convince her that because she wasn’t healed, God didn’t really love her. For all of you who were praying for Lisa, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, as those attempts were stopped, and the pain drove her to a deeper relationship with Jesus. Just last week, she said all she wanted to do was hug God. She is now in heaven, and for that we give thanks to Jesus, as He provided a way for us to have relationship with our Father again, by dying on the cross. So, we praise Jesus, the name that is above every name, for saving and rescuing our Lisa!!!
