Alice “Dukie” V. Lafferty

Alice worked in the trucking industry for most of her career.

She also received a Masters degree from University of Nebraska Omaha in History.

Preceded in death by her husband; James D Lafferty, mother; Alice V Bokelman, sister; Marjorie J Bokelman and many other dearly loved family members.

Survived by: sons Robert Ray (Michelle) and Shane Patrick (Susan) Lafferty,grandchildren; Robert, Brandon, Sarah, Shane II and Scott, great-grandchildren; James, Brooklynn, McKenziee, Chasitie, Kylee, Michelle and Trinity ,cousins and other family members.

Visitation with family members and greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Wake Service/Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 19 2018 at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N 108th St in Omaha Nebraska.

Burial will be at a later date.

Of Omaha, survived by sons and daughter-in-law Ernest (Nalin) Harpster, III, Robert (Norene) Harpster and Roger Harpster, 13 grandchildren Kyle and Amanda Harpster, Savannah Harpster, Conrad and Cassandra Goetzinger, Samantha Harpster, Heather and Joshua Harpster, Nicholas Harpster, Heidi and Eric Harpster, Yuyang Zeng and Yuheng Chen, brother Virgil (Betty) Roberts, sisters Donna Carstensen, Julie Kruse, sister-in-law Barbara Harpster.  Preceded in Death by husband Ernest Harpster, brother-in-law Larry Harpster and sister-in-law Laura Salzbrenner.  Member of Community of Christ Church, Omaha Bird Society, Lutheran Family Services and North Omaha Community Club.  Long time owner of Kenwood Feed Store.

Visitation 6-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mortuary, Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Thursday (7/19/2013) at Roeder Mortuary 108th Street Chapel,  Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Memorials to Boy Scout Troop # 31 or Community of Christ Church.

Steven Dennis Morgan

Steven Dennis Morgan was born on August 20, 1952 in Omaha, NE to Harold and Joane (Neuman) Morgan. Steven graduated from Benson High School class of 1971 and was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for Nebraska Furniture Mart in appliance sales and also at Huber Cadillac. He was preceded in death by his son; Andrew, parents and brother; Don. Steven is survived by his children; Benjamin, Hannah Ferro (Jacob) and Kate Morgan, grandsons; Garth and Steven Ferro, brothers; Greg and Dave Morgan (Pam), mother of the children; Sara Morgan, dear friend; Nancy Young, many other family and friends.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, July 16th at Roeder Mortuary 108th St. Chapel. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday July 17th at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 11615 I St., Omaha, NE. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Doris W Walters

Walters, Doris W. Age 90 A lifelong educator, a mom, a grandma, a friend, and a sorority sister. She was a gregarious, outgoing woman who was leader of Sigma Gamma Rho. Doris W. Walters passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 11, in her home. Born Nov. 8, 1927 in Austin, TX. Preceded by husband, Richard H. Walters; mother, Florence Wilkerson; daughter, Saundra Brooks; and son, Michael Brooks. Survived by son, David Johnson; and many grand, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews. Family, friends and students whose lives Doris touched are invited to Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Ave., Monday, July 16th, 10am to honor, reminisce, grieve, and share memories.

Candace Ruth Pajak

Candace Ruth Pajak (Ostby), age 68, was peacefully taken to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, July 8. She was a loving and faithful wife, daughter, and sister preceded by her father, Bill Ostby, and her brother Woody Ostby, and survived by her husband Victor Pajak, her siblings: Larry Ostby, Tim Ostby, Greg Ostby, Camille Atwood, and Robyn Lueders, and 29 nieces and nephews. As a faithful servant of Christ, prayer warrior, and student of God’s word, Candy impacted the lives of many to include numerous children through Sunday School, Awanas, and VBS ministries. VISITATION 5-7pm Friday July 13 at ROEDER MORTUARY. Funeral service 10:00am Saturday at Crosspoint Church (7820 Fort Street, Omaha). Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Crosspoint Church.

Arus D’Andre Tunstall

Arus D’Andre Tunstall was born on June 5, 1993 to Allen and Michelle Tunstall in Heidelberg, Germany. He passed away quietly on July 3, 2018. Arus lived in Omaha, Nebraska under the loving guidance of his father, Allen and step-mother; Anita. He received his early education at Sacred Heart Grade School. Upon graduation from Sacred Heart, he attended St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey High School before transferring to Benson High School where he graduated in 2011. Arus went to Metro Community College for general studies and was set to start EMT classes August 2018.Arus was a free spirit who loved traveling, video games, and anything anime. He loved meeting new people, helping the elderly, and was a true inspiration to everyone around him. All who were blessed to know him, described Arus as being very attentive, giving, and respectful. He was hard working and had very big plans for his future. Arus was very passionate about his work as a Lab Lead with NOAH (North Omaha Area Health Clinic) where he was certified in various areas of health. There he was acknowledged as Prevention Man from 2016- 2018 and received the Champion of Change Award early this year. Coworkers described Arus as having a quirky sense of humor and yet a deep compassion for the patients he served.

 

Preceded in Arus’ death were his grandmother and great-grandmother, Catherine and Leota Tunstall of Omaha, NE; Maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Harris-Sneed and uncle, Napolean Sneed of Pompano Beach, FL; Cousin, Scott Tunstall Jr., Omaha, NE. Left to cherish his memory is his loving parents, Allen and Anita Tunstall, San Antonio, TX; Mother, Michelle Sneed-Tunstall, Pompano Beach, FL; grandfather, Pastor Samuel L. Sneed, Sr. of Pompano Beach, FL. Celebration of Life Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, July 14th also at the mortuary.

Janice M. Closner

11/4/1939 – 7/8/2018

Janice Closner left us peacefully on July 8, 2018 at Bryan West Hospital.

Jan was born November 4, 1939 in Omaha to Henry and Mildred Biel. She graduated from Gretna High School and attended the University of Nebraska where she met her husband, Gary. They were married for 54 years. Jan settled down in Lincoln and stayed at home with her two sons, Glen and Shawn, until they were both in school. Jan worked for O.U.R. Homes as the Assistant Administrator of the assisted living facility.

Her interests included spending time at the lake with family, watching Husker football games, volunteering at the Waverly Elementary School library, and making crafts. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.

Jan was preceded in death by parents; husband Gary; daughter baby Closner; brother, Delmar Biel; sister-in-law, Barb Biel. Survived by sons: Glen, Shawn (Kari), grandchildren: Cody (Toni), Jamie (Andrew), Austin, Drew, Jacob, Alyssa; sister, Marcelyn Hurst (Tom); brother, Larry Biel; nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.

Visitation Thursday 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary ~ Gretna Chapel; Funeral Service 10:00 AM Friday July 13, 2018 at Resurrection Lutheran Church 153 S. McKenna Avenue Gretna, Nebraska; Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery Omaha, Nebraska.

Laura Drake

Laura Drake was born January 27, 1954 to Martha Williams and Walter White in Jackson Mississippi. She was the oldest daughter of 11 children.

She was a loving mother of 7 children. 6 still alive, Adell McKinney, Katrina McKinney, Anthony McKinney, Lee McKinney, Lora McKinney, and Davis Drake. One passed away, Antonio McKinney. Laura Drake has 20 grandchildren. Her brother Roger and sister Emma passed. Laura was a Widow, her husband was Brady Drake. Her mother Martha is still alive. Her Father Walter White has passed.

Laura was a nurse for some years and from there was an owner of a consultant company, Drake Services. She was also a writer and typist.

Laura was unique in every way and loved by many. She is now, “Going with Big Mama.”

Alan L. Cox

Alan Lee Cox Age 54 of Allen, Texas passed away suddenly on July 3, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He was born on January 21, 1964 in Ord, Nebraska to Fred and Shayrell (Holcolmb) Cox.
Alan graduated from Arcadia High School in 1982 and Wayne State College in 1986.  His love for weather and weather-related events lead him to a successful fire claims career with State Farm Insurance Companies for almost 32 years.  He held multiple insurance designations.
He married Susan Niebur in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on May 21, 2003.  After starting a family, Alan’s career took them from Lincoln to Bloomington, IL, Hoover, AL and Allen, TX.
Alan was an avid reader, music buff, and Husker Football Fan but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Alan is survived by his wife; Susan, children; Madelon and Owen, brother’s; David, John (Tracy) and Douglas (Nancy) Cox, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A Celebration of Alan’s Life will be 11:00am Monday, July 9, 2018 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 20844 Bonanza Blvd., Elkhorn, Nebraska. Private family inurnment. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
