SERVICE: Wednesday, June 20, at 6:00pm, with VISITATION 1 hour prior at Roeder Mortuary 50th – Ames Chapel 4932 Ames Avenue Omaha, Nebraska. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery Omaha, Nebraska.

Randall “Randy” Lee Turner

Randall “Randy” Lee Turner Age 59, passed away suddenly on June 8, 2018.
Randy was born on August 10, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Patricia (Kirk) Turner. He worked in retail sales most of his life.  Randy enjoyed music, fishing and the outdoors. Randy leaves to cherish his memory: son, Eric; parents: Patricia Turner, Robert and Christina Turner; brothers: Rick Turner and John Creighton; Sisters: Roberta “Birdie” Turner, Jill Turner, Janet Carlson, Joyce Pohl, and Joan Newingham; nephews, aunts, uncles, cousin, family and friends.

Marjorie A Phelan

Marjorie Phelan was born December 12, 1930 in Schuyler, Nebraska. She attended Howells High School (’48) and National Business Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married William J. Phelan in 1949. The family moved to Gretna in 1964. Over the years Marjorie worked at Bethesda Nursing Home as a nursing aide, an activities director and social services assistant and later for Gretna Public Schools as a lunchroom server.

Marj was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of Altar Society, choir and the 55+ Club. Marjorie served many wedding and funeral dinners and provided altar flowers for the church. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary holding several leadership roles and serving many events at the club. She also served the local bloodmobile as a volunteer coordinator.

If you knew Marjorie you probably heard more than one of her epic stories. People were the source of her happiness and energy. She loved her family and friends. She was blessed with good health and time to truly enjoy her children, grandchildren and grand-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.

Marjorie had a great sense of humor and adventure. She never shied away from an opportunity to strike up a conversation, share a laugh, help someone out or try something new. She enjoyed history and travel and kept wonderful journals of her travels and family stories. She also loved to read, play the piano and garden. She had a particular knack for making quilts and throw pillows from t-shirts she collected during her travels.

Following a series of strokes, Marj passed away at SilverRidge Assisted Living Center on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

We will miss her stories, her smile, her laugh and her deep love for her family.

Beloved Aunt, Sister, Daughter. Preceded in death by siblings Harvey, Dorothy & Phyllis. Survived by family Mark A. Peterson, Kristi Peterson, Chuck (Adena) Peterson, Joan (Bob) Reimold, Carolyn Peterson, Miranda Peterson,  Mary K Dean, Carol Dean, Jeff Schutt, Ronda Schutt, many family, friends and precious dog Zoe. After graduation from secretarial school in 1940 Shirley worked 47 years for farm management companies where she retired from LeDioyt Land Company in 1987. Shirley was a active & cherished member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

DeAnne K. Mack (Heldt)

2/13/1940 – 5/29/2018

DeAnne Kay Mack was born to Edgar and Helen Heldt on February 13, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska. DeAnne had one sister, Eileen Kuiper, who survives her.

DeAnne, a Benson Bunny, graduated from Municipal University of Omaha in 1962 and soon married Chester B. Mack Jr. She worked as a teacher, food service supervisor and receptionist, but her greatest achievements came as a gifted and accomplished artist first through painting, and up until her death, quilting. A member of numerous local and state quilting groups and guilds, DeAnne was recognized as an award-winning quilter, and these stunning heirlooms will be treasured by her family and friends for generations to come.

DeAnne is survived by her children, John (E. Diane) and Dina (Brad), 4 grandchildren, Clara, Tess, Hollyn, Christie, and 3 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Syrus and Jackson.

Visitation Sunday 3:00 – 5:00 PM; Service 10:00 AM Monday (6/4/18) all at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th Street Omaha, Nebraska, Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Omaha, Nebraska.

Jeffrey J. Schmit

Schmit, Jeffrey J. Nov 22, 1966 – May 26, 2018 Papillion, NE. 22 1/2 years at Cargill Corn Mill in Blair.

Passed away at home after an 8 month journey with thymic carcinoma, which he faced with strength and courage, with his wife of 31 years Amy by his side.

Jeff was very proud to have served in the Marine Corps Reserves.  He was an avid fisherman, making a trek to Canada every June for many years. This was his much loved fishing trip! Canada was his most special place on earth.  He enjoyed trapshooting, movies, and also took up cycling a year before cancer stopped him.

He and his wife, Amy, discovered a love for cruising, going to Alaska, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean.

Jeff spent 2 months in India a couple of years ago for his job, which was a memorable experience in itself.  People were often drawn to his amazing smile and kindness.

Jeff loved his family, friends and his coworkers.  He was so proud of his son, Kyle, and especially treasured their time together over the past 2 months.
