1/21/1950 – 4/22/2019

Lynn Herbert Lessmann was born January 21, 1950 to Betty and Willis Lessmann in Wayne, Nebraska. Lynn was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. He graduated from Wayne Public Schools in 1969 where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He continued with basketball at Wayne State College. Lynn relished sharing these stories of past wins, losses, and lessons with his children, teammates, and others.

On May 27, 1972, Lynn married Gloria Magnuson in Concord, Nebraska. The couple lived in Omaha for a short time and then returned to northeast Nebraska to make Winside their home. Lynn worked at Winside State Bank as banker, realtor, and insurance agent for most of his career — all of which he enjoyed. Lynn was actively involved in his St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, school, youth programs, and community boards and events. After 26 years, Lynn and his wife Gloria returned to the Omaha area to Gretna, Nebraska. There he worked in real estate and started Lessmann Insurance Agency, which he ran until his retirement. Lynn was a member of several Gretna community groups and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Lynn is remembered for his devout faith and his goodness as a husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to so many. An avid sports fan and outdoorsman, Lynn enjoyed Husker football, Husker basketball, Cardinals baseball, local high school sports, golfing, fishing, hunting, and sharing that enjoyment with friends and family. In the spirit of giving, Lynn continues to give through the donation of his body to research studies of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at Mayo Clinic.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Betty Lessmann, and in-laws, Glenn and Irene Magnuson and Arlen and Connie Magnuson. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Lessmann; sons, Nathan (Amber) Lessmann and Aaron (Laura) Lessmann; daughter, Susan (Ben) Wagner; Grandchildren: Caleb, Easton, Delilah, Willis, Lucy, Elsie, and James; brothers, Brendt (Debbie) Lessmann and Brian (Cindia) Lessmann; in-laws, Vel and Kathie Magnuson and Jerry and Verlene Jacoby; and many loving family and friends.

Funeral service celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 11204 S 204th St, Gretna, NE, with visitation with family an hour prior to service.
