11/16/1967 – 10/14/2017

Gretna, NE, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, Colorado Springs, CO, and St. Louis Park, MN..

A selfless woman, Linda was usually found at her children’s activities, keeping her husband in line, in her garden, or crafting – always with her beloved dogs at her feet. Linda embraced each day, never letting her 4 year battle with breast cancer hinder her joy in celebrating the beauty of each moment. Whether swimming with dolphins, strolling the beaches of Jamaica, binging on ice cream, or spending time with family and friends, her smile warmed everyone around her.

Linda’s compassion and desire to help others led to a long career as an educational assistant supporting students with special needs in Cedar Rapids School District, Millard and Gretna community schools.

Linda joined her heavenly family in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends, Oct. 14, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Derald S. Loomis, III, daughter Amanda, and son Alexander, as well as her parents, Ken and Linda Banker, her loving brothers and sister, and devoted pets, Romeo and Athena. The lives of countless others will be forever blessed by knowing Linda.

A celebration of Life will be held at Roeder Mortuary, 11710 Standing Stone Dr., Gretna, Nebraska, Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 1:00 pm.  Joyful attire requested to be worn to service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Linda’s honor.

Maxine F. Hill

September 1, 1927 – August 30, 2017

Maxine was born on September 1, 1927, in Fremont, NE to parents, Felix and Blanche McDonald. She married the love of her life, Jack Hill, on June 5, 1948. Within 4 years, Mike, Ken and Nancy were born. Maxine never had a “job”, but always worked tirelessly to make every house a home. Between 1954 and 1960 there were many; Omaha NE, St Louis MO, Overland Park KS, South Salem NY, Hartland WI, and finally back to Omaha which was home to her large extended family. She took great pride in her new home in Keystone and went about raising three teenagers until a surprise addition joined the family in 1968, another precious daughter, Victoria Lynn. Sadly Jack, her partner and provider of 32 years, was lost to the family in 1979.  This began a new chapter in life, raising Vicki alone, while still serving her church and community through volunteer work for St James Rectory and delivering Meals on Wheels. With her four children grown, she began her next chapter, providing full time day care for Vicki’s three girls with unlimited love and support for all 9 grandchildren: Mike (LeAnne) – Jesica Hill; Ken (Nancee) – Zachary Hill (Amber), Lea Grey  (Nate), Jackie Warren (Dave), Alyx Hill; Nancy – John Walter (Kristine); Vicki (Jeff) – Marissa, Sophia and Talia Heckerson. She proudly welcomed 7 great grandchildren into the family: Zachary – Gramercy, Iris, and Whittier Hill; Jackie – Luke, Brandt, and Vivian Warren; John – Kate Walter.

In the past five years, she dealt with great loss of many family and friends with strength of character, dignity, and grace, just as she had lived.

She passed peacefully 2 days shy of her 90th birthday in her home of 57 years surrounded by her family. She will always be dearly loved and forever missed.

Preceded in death by parents, Felix and Blanche McDonald; loving husband, Jack Hill; beloved son, Ken Hill; sisters, Donna Albrecht and Kathleen Johnston; brother, Gerald McDonald. Survived by children;  Mike Hill (LeAnne), Nancee Hill (Ken’s Spouse), Nancy Walter and Vicki Heckerson (Jeff); 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Knauss (Duane); sister-in-law, Linda McDonald.

Visitation with family begins at 1pm on Saturday, October 21, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm. Please join us at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N 108th St. Omaha, NE. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name to CUES or Pathways to Compassion Hospice in Omaha is preferred.
