Theresa Charlson

10/28/1958 – 6/29/2017

Theresa Charlson, 58, passed away unexpectedly at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE on June 29, 2017.

Theresa was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on October 28, 1958 to Joel and Sandra Turnbull. After relocating several times during her father’s military service, her family moved to Forest City, IA. Prior to her graduation from Forest City High School, she attended the Belmond, IA community school system. Upon graduation, she worked at North Central Human Services (NCHS) and served in various roles assisting handicapped children. She met Elynn Charlson and they were married on September 3, 1977. They were blessed with two beautiful children—Joseph and Amy. They made Forest City their home and while there she held numerous jobs after being a stay-at-home mom for several years. She and her husband later relocated to Omaha, NE, where she accepted a job as a pharmacy technician at Offutt Air Force Base.

Theresa enjoyed cooking and baking and for several years had her own cake business—Cake Works. She also loved crafts and sewing, making several quilts for her children; gardening and tending to her flower beds; outdoor activities; spending time with her family and friends; and making many memorable memories with her grandson. She will be most remembered for her kind-hearted spirit, selflessness and zest for life.

Theresa was devoted to her family. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband Elynn Charlson; son Joseph (Mirrna) Charlson, daughter Amy (Eric) Richey and grandson Zayden Richey and future granddaughter; mother Sandra Turnbull; sister Jeanine (Jerry) Marsolek; brothers Brad, Brian and Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother and father-in- law; and Dorothy Haugen (special family friend).

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 7th, 2017 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Roeder Mortuary Gretna Chapel: 11710 Standing Stone Drive, Gretna, NE 68028. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at 10:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: 11204 South 204th Street Gretna, NE 68028.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Misako T. LaChapelle

Misako, age 90 of Omaha, passed away on July 2, 2017 at Brighton Garden’s nursing facility after suffering a major stroke over one year ago. She is survived by her husband James LaChapelle in Omaha, relatives in Japan, as well as nieces and nephews in Japan and the USA. Misako was born and raised in Wakayama, Japan. She was in food service for the University of Nebraska at Omaha for 30 years. She was an avid gardener, participated in Japanese floral arrangements hosted by Ikebana International Omaha #60, and was a great cook. Special thanks to all of her wonderful friends that faithfully visited to lift her spirits.

Valerie Lynn Meisinger, Age 56 of Omaha, NE passed away on July 3, 2017.

Valerie is survived by husband: Jerry Sievers, daughters: Shannon Mooney and husband David Atkinson, Faith Sievers and husband Nate Buckley, Lisa Meisinger, sons: Shane and Dylan Meisinger, 3- grandchildren and sister: Sandra Bell and husband David.

Catherine (Kay) Hull Haley, 80, of Gretna died July 2, 2017.

She was born in Tulsa, OK. to James Dean and Catherine (Goodrich) Hull April 16, 1937. Her parents both died when she was a young girl. After several years living with her maternal grandparents in Long Beach, CA. she went to live with her aunt and uncle in Del Mar, CA. She attended boarding school at Ramona Secondary School in Alhambra, CA. She received an Associates degree from Lincoln School of Commerce.

Kay and Thomas O. Haley, Sr. were married July 1, 1959 and had 5 children. They divorced in the late 1980’s.

After the children were raised, Kay started her career at the Nebraska Hospital Association and later worked for UNL in the Physics and Astronomy department. She retired in 2013.

Kay was an avid gardener, and a certified Master Gardener for many years. She enjoyed volunteering her time helping others. Kay was an active member of Call to Action Nebraska and served many years with Beginning Experience for the Omaha Archdiocese. She moved to Gretna in 1999 where she was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and served as an EMHC for many years.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Hull (Marian). She is survived by her children/spouses John Haley, Brighton, CO.; Jim Haley (Barb) Omaha; Ann McMickell (Rick), Hastings; Tom Haley, Jr. (Lisa), Omaha; Dan Haley, Berlin, MD.

Kay is also survived by her grandchildren: Matt Haley (Bailey), Renton, WA.; Adam Haley, Wichita, KS.; Beth Haley, Marge Haley, Rob McMickell (Althea), Allison McMickell, Jack Haley, Molly Haley and Will Haley all of Omaha; great grandson Graham McMickell of Omaha. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Marian Hull; niece Cindy Cox and nephew Steve Hull, all of San Antonio, TX.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gretna, on Friday, July 7, at 10:00 AM with Visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM.

Ruth was born in Thayer Co., NE.She was a teacher in one room country schools in Fillmore and Thayer counties. She also taught elementary school in Hyannis NE and Omaha NE. The family lived in Lincoln NE, Hastings NE as well as Omaha. Survived by daughter Ardeth Henderson; grandchildren Brian Henderson, Amy Henderson (Jeff Kosse); great-grandchildren Ava and Parker; nieces, nephews, cousins. Nason G. Thomas

Nason Glenndale Thomas was born on September 6, 2007 to Glennette Threats and Amaya Thomas in Omaha, Nebraska.

Nason was an intelligent child, attending Wakonda and Pinewood Elementary schools, and Belvedere Academy. He was still a student at Belvedere Academy at the time of passing. He was in the top 5 percent of his class. Nason was also in the gifted and talented program at the Academy. He had the highest math scores among all of the third and even fourth graders at his school.

Nason enjoyed being challenged. You could often find him putting together Lego’s and asking many questions to his family to gain clarity about the world. Nason loved Thomas the Train and this inspired him to want to become a train conductor when he grew up. He also loved video games, Mario and Luigi, Ninja Turtles, and doing art.

He loved his family, especially his mom, brother, and sister. His had such a contagious smile that brightened up a person’s day. His personality was huge; he loved to laugh and have fun! He has left a special place in everyone’s heart.

Nason lost his battle to asthma on Thursday, June 22 at Children’s Hospital. God needed our little angel at this time. Even though the loss is bittersweet, he is no longer suffering and is in heaven with his granny.

Nason is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Aaron and Christine Threats; Grandparents, Pamela Threats and Raymond Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory parents: Glennette and Amaya; brother and sister, Ny’Pree Thomas and Jamire Threats;  great aunts: Lotharee Gregory and Diana (Sherman) Morrow; uncle: Raymond Thomas; great uncles:  Aaron and Clarence (Deb) Threats; a very special cousin Trina Brooks, and a host of loving cousins, other relatives, and friends whom he shared a lot of amazing times with.
