Melanie J. Frazier

Melanie J. Frazier age 59, Omaha, passed away on January 6, 2017.  Melanie was born, August 1, 1957 in Omaha to James Robert (Bob) and Edith (Mushrush) Frazier.

Melanie attended Millard High School graduating in 1975. She pursued her passion and became an Electroencephalogram (EEG) professional and was currently working at Mary Lanning Health Care in Hastings, NE, at the time of her passing.  Melanie deeply loved her family, friends and kitties. She enjoyed the summers at the Frazier’s “cottage” on Jones Beach in Okoboji, being an avid boater and skier and loved Parrot Head music.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Edith Frazier, and brother Dr. Mark Frazier.  She is survived by brothers Todd and Paul (Roxie), her Aunt Katherine Christensen, nieces, nephews and several loving friends.

Betty J. Sturgeon

Age 93, passed away on January 11, 2017 in Gretna, NE. She was born in Omaha, NE on August 14, 1923 to James and Gladys (Zelluf) Hough.  Betty was the first Nurse practitioner for the State of Nebraska.  She was the Assistant Director for the Visiting Nurses Association and Professor of Nursing at Creighton University for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by husband, Willis; brother, Jim Hough. Betty is survived by sons: Thomas Sturgeon (Denise), Michael Sturgeon (Cheryl); grandchildren, Macaela (Richie), Ryan, Brittney, Sarah, Olivia, Katie (Austin) and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Taft, Taylor, Kaleb, Reagan, Piper and Presley.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 13th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Roeder Mortuary Gretna Chapel, with VIGIL SERVICE at 6:30pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Saturday, Jan. 14th at 10:00 am, St. Patrick Catholic Church, 508 Angus Street, Gretna, NE. Interment at the Glenwood  Cemetery in Glenwood, IA

Age 66 Ken passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Preceded in death by father Jack E. Hill.  Survived by beloved wife of 42 years, Nancee; son, Zachary (Amber); daughters, Lea Grey (Nate), Jacqueline Warren (Dave), & Alexandra; grandchildren, Lucas John, Brandt Thomas & sweet baby (due Feb.) Vivian Paige Warren, Gramercy Rose, Iris Siena, & Whittier Moss Hill; mother, Maxine Hill; brother, Mike (LeAnne); sisters, Nancy Walter & Vicki Heckerson (Jeff); nephew, John Walter; nieces, Jesica Hill, Marissa, Sophia, & Talia Heckerson; Granddogs, Rufus, Oliver, & Gus.Ken always believed, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”  Ken worked at ENHSA for 42 years having recently retired as Central Area Director.  He was generous and compassionate always trying to make a difference for others, especially those with disabilities.   He loved long walks in nature, listening to classic, indie and modern rock music & satisfying his appetite with Bohemian Cafe and pies. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held Saturday, January 21st at 2pm at Roeder Mortuary-108th St. Chapel, Omaha, NE. Visitation 1-2pm.  Memorials may be directed to family for distribution to ENHSA Central Area and Lauritzen Gardens.

of Omaha. Age 97, Omaha, NE. Died suddenly during recovery from a shoulder injury on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Katharine was born in York, NE to Albert J. and Elizabeth Friesen Dalke, and was a graduate of Grant High School, Grant NE and Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL. She taught primary education in rural public schools for grades 1 – 12. On August 25, 1940, she married Henry Warkentin, and the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2010 at their home in Pacific Springs Village. She served faithfully in her role as wife of a Presbyterian minister in churches in Sioux City, IA, Rock Island, IL, and the Chicago area. Katharine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Herbert M. Dalke, Rachel W. Dalke, Bertha L. Dalke, Alma Dalke Benedict, and Alieda M. Dalke Zeitner. She is survived by one sister Ruby M. Dalke Enns, Worth, IL; two brothers, Willard J. Dalke (Mary), Reedley, CA, and Irvin W. Dalke (Wanda), Templeton, CA; daughter Dr. Phyllis I. Warkentin (Dr. Peter F. Coccia), Omaha, NE; son Thomas H. Warkentin (Valerie), Chicago, IL; grandchildren Kathryn Coccia, Baltimore, MD, Jennifer Coccia, Omaha, NE, Brent and Blake Warkentin, Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
