6/2/1942 – 8/6/2016

Wayne Albert Rasmuss of Omaha passed away Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016, surrounded by his wife and family.

Wayne was born in Omaha in 1942 to Albert and Louise (Bergman) Rasmuss, and he grew up mostly in the North Omaha and Benson areas with his brother, Robert Christensen, and sister, Juleen (Christensen) Halvorson. He attended North High School, graduating in 1960. He remains friends with many classmates and enjoyed attending class reunions. He also enjoyed planning official and unofficial reunion events with friends and the committees.

Wayne married another North High graduate, Paula (Berg) Rasmuss, in 1964, and together they raised four children and then welcomed four children-in-law into their family: Jeanne and Dave Prucha of Omaha, Emily and Kerry Jones of Livingston, MT, Wayne and Sarah Rasmuss of Shawnee, KS and Cammie and Will Natsues of Chicago, IL. Seven grandchildren are Michael Prucha, Grace, Rose and Samuel Jones, Audrey and Wayne Rasmuss and William Natsues.

Wayne earned graduate and undergraduate degrees from the College of Business at UNO and worked as a bond underwriter and investment banker during his over 50-year career, most recently at Ameritas Investments. He helped to finance community and public works projects for towns all across Nebraska, and he loved traveling his state and getting to know the people in the many towns he worked with.

Wayne devoted his time and energy to family, friends and social events. He played city league softball for 38 seasons, bowled in a weekly league, participated in children’s sports practices and games and spent time many Decembers being Santa for schools, health care facilities, friends and family. One of his favorite compliments came from a young student: “This year the real Santa Claus came!”

His loved ones will especially remember and carry with them Wayne’s way of making everything fun and his sense of humor, determination, dedication to his work and devotion to his family. In going to Christ, Wayne has now joined his grandparents and parents, his children, Elizabeth and Rebecca, and many other relatives and acquaintances. In addition to his wife, siblings, children and grandchildren, Wayne will be remembered by his sisters and brother-in-law, his nieces and nephews and their children, his cousins and countless friends.

Most Sundays Wayne worshipped at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Services will be held there to celebrate his life Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at Mt. Beverly Jean Chladek (nee Mruz)

07/25/1950 – 08/02/2016.

Bev was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Clarence and Nora Bopp, paternal grandparents Jacob and Caroline Mruz, parents Edward and Loretta Mruz, stepfather Alvin Riskowski, and father-in-law Godfrey “Red” Chladek. She is survived by her loving husband Richard Chladek, son Brian Chladek, granddaughter Grace Chladek, brothers-in-law Gary Chladek (Mary Ann) and Jim Chladek (Karen) brothers Tom Mruz (Bernadette), Jim Mruz (Sharla), Larry Mruz (Joyce), Dan Mruz (Linda) and Mike Mruz (Vicki), her sisters Barbara Holder, Pat Norcik (Xan), and Laura Simonds (Derek), stepbrother Alvin “Mike” Riskowski (Linda), and many nieces and nephews.

Bev attended St. Francis of Assisi grade school in South Omaha and graduated from Archbishop Ryan Memorial High School in 1968. Some of Bev’s fondest memories from her childhood and teen years were spending time on the farm every summer with Grandpa and Grandma Bopp, family outings to Zweibel’s on the Platte River, go-go dancing with Barb and Pat and cousin Mary Jane with the Lenny Rich polka band, and hanging out at Leisure Lanes after school. She married Rich on August 26, 1972 and spent the next 44 years with the man she loved and continues to love from Heaven above. Her working years were spent at Wells Fargo Bank and Boys Town. She and Rich raised a wonderful son in Brian who is an exceptional father to Grace. Besides her family, especially Grace whom she loved as only a grandmother could (they baked lots of chocolate chip cookies together), Bev loved the Chicago Cubs and Bev and Rich spent many vacations in Chicago with sister Pat going to Cubbie games. She was still watching as many Cub games on TV as possible up to her last days. Those Cubbies might have a chance this year with Bev rooting for them from Heaven!

God works in mysterious ways. Bev was able to attend the wedding reception of her niece Melissa on July 9 and visited with lots of family she hadn’t seen in years. She became ill with a respiratory infection the next day and, due to her COPD, was unable to recover. Bev peacefully passed away the afternoon of August 2nd at Midlands Hospital with her husband Rich, son Brian and sister Barb at her side. She was ready to join her mom and dad in Heaven (her words) and we have come to realize that we all live to die so that we can be with Our Lord Jesus Christ at the end of our earthly lives. She is there! Bev will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Those we love and lose are together with us forever in our hearts and in our memories. May Bev rest in peace.
