Charlotte Marie (Thomas )Timm was born on February 5, 1933, to Herman and Laura (Eggers) Thomas on their family farm in Yutan, Nebraska. Charlotte was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yutan where she was an active member. She attended District 66 country school through 8th grade and graduated valedictorian from Yutan High School in 1950. Charlotte enjoyed living on the farm and being outside, helping take care of the cows and chickens. She loved home economics in school and became a proficient seamstress. Charlotte attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont for one year prior to marriage.
Charlotte met Melvin Timm of Springfield at a Luther League event in Papillion. They dated and then were married on September 11, 1951. To this union they were blessed with three children – Larry, Diane, and Linda. Melvin was in the Air Force in Biloxi, Mississippi, for four years following their wedding, and then they returned to the Timm family farm in southwest Sarpy County where they farmed for forty years.
Melvin and Charlotte enjoyed square dancing, gardening, community and church activities, and being with friends. They had the pleasure of many memorable vacations, whether overseas or traveling in the states with their RV. Charlotte remained on the farm, following Melvin’s death in July 2011, until her move in 2014 to Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna.
Charlotte was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending her free time socially with others and was a friend to all. Charlotte was a warm, generous, and cheerful person, who loved her family and friends deeply. She was a passionate gardener and loved being outdoors working in her flower beds. Charlotte was active in a number of different churches and played the organ and sang for many years. Her faith was very important to her and she often spoke of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Charlotte will be greatly missed.
Charlotte is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Leisha Timm of Springfield, and daughter and son-in-law Linda and Steve Morris of Lincoln. Eight grandchildren Jamie (Clint) Veren, Jennifer (Brent) Jackson, Julie Timm, Elijah (Liz) Williams, Seth (Nina) Morris, Jason Morris, Ryan Morris, and Luke Morris. Though I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Charlotte and Melvin Timm, I certainly recognized many of their personal qualities manifested in you, Larry and Linda, and Diane when you were at Dana. The College was made better by your having been students there. My sympathy and prayer for your comfort. Gene Lindblad
