Omaha – Delia Amentha (Peak) Johnson passed away peacefully at home with her family after a long battle with lung cancer.

Delia, the oldest of six children, was born on December 11th, 1948 to the late Donald Peak Sr. and Jacqueline Peak in Omaha, NE. She attended Howard Kennedy grade school and graduated from Central High School in 1967. Delia attended both Barber & Beauty and Althouse Beauty Schools, where she studied Cosmetology. She also attended San Diego Community College studying Business Administration.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was actively involved throughout her life with her church home, Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where her grandfather, the late Rev. Foster Goodlet, had preached.

As the matriarch of the family, Delia was known by many names. She was known as Grandma Delia to everyone who loved her, and also as Dee Dee to her childhood friends.

She had to grow into adulthood by being a caregiver to her mother and father. Delia had a deep love for all in her large extended family. Her faith, compassion and dedication impacted the life of all who knew her. She dearly loved her four children, in addition to adopting everyone else’s children as her own. Helping and doing for others is when she felt most at peace.

“Don’t worry about the past, because you can’t change it. Don’t focus on the future, it’s unpredictable. Live for today, for the now.”

Her last home is heaven. She was very much a blessing to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by Dana L Haynie, Mary A Gunter, Darwin F Peak, Joseph Peak and Rev. Berry Goodlett.

She is survived by and will be lovingly missed by her husband of 23 years Theadwell Johnson, daughters Davida A Adams-Dickson and Tiffany L Haynie, sons Willis J Haynie and Anthony C Lovejoy, stepson Kenneth Johnson, her siblings Theresa A Peak, Donald H Peak, and Duane Peak, her nine grandchildren Sakiera, Willis, Chinyere, William, Sheree, Ngozika, Dana, Emeka, and Nicklaus, her 5 ½ great-grandchildren Andrew, Zayden, Tehya, Layla, and Alanna. She also leaves to cherish her dearest friends Carletta Brown, Tonia Louis Graves Reese, Shirley Taylor, and also Annette Sallis of her Jehovah Witness family, and mother-in-law Johannah Johnson.
