Omaha – Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James, and her four sisters, Connie, Gertrude, Esther, and Dorothy. Survived by sons Jim Clanton (Mary), Tom Clanton(Pamela). Grandchildren Karna Kudirka (Mike), Christopher Clanton (Ester), Samuel Clanton (Kunlathida ) and great grandchildren Brooke, Marta, Peter and John, and her long time friend and companion, Bill Jones.

Erna was well known in the Omaha area as a soloist, music instructor, and choir director. She had a solo singing career in many venues, including the Omaha. Symphony, Trinity Lutheran Church and First Congregational church. She directed numerous singing choirs, bell choirs, and chime choirs for children and adults, most recently at the Immanuel Village Retirement Community. Family and friends can always visit the statue of her at the Pacific Springs Immanuel Facility. The statue is called “One song two generations” and is a tribute to her life-long dedication to encourage people of all ages to participate in music.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday (8/25/2018), with a visitation 1 hour prior, at Trinity Lutheran Church 6340 N 30th Street Omaha, Nebraska where she was a life-long member and a member of the staff.

If you are interested in joining the Immanuel Village Choir in singing at the service, there will be a rehearsal at the front of the church at 12:45 PM. Many of her former students and choir members have shown interest in participating.
