Eugene Leo Kritenbrink “Gene”

Gene lived in the rural Gretna area. He was a successful farmer and worked at the AT&T/Western Electric–Omaha Works, from which he retired after 33 years of service. He is preceded in death by parents, John Joseph (“Joe”) and Ida Kritenbrink; brother Richard Kritenbrink; and wife Mary Ann (Scholting) Kritenbrink. He is survived by brother, Donald (Joyce) Kritenbrink (Ashland); sons Lawrence (Cynthia) Kritenbrink (Omaha), Joseph (Brenda) Kritenbrink (Gilbertsville, KY), and Ronald (Darlene) Kritenbrink (Gretna); daughter Ann (Curt) Yager (Gretna); grandchildren Kari (Albert) Banigo (San Diego, CA), Janell (Kevin) register (Troy, OH), Jared (Erin) Kritenbrink (Indianapolis, IN), John (Lindsey) Kritenbrink (Omaha), James Kritenbrink (Long Beach., CA), Kristin (Paul) Yaneff (Sioux City, IA), Kevin Yager (Gretna), Kendall Kritenbrink (Sioux City, IA), Peter Kritenbrink (Chicago, IL), and Mary Yager (Gretna); step-grandsons Curt Yager (Lincoln), Brian (Lisa) Yager (Omaha), and Jason (Kyla) Yager (Lincoln); step-granddaughter Mandy (Shaun) Pokorny (Council Bluffs); 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; cousins; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends, including his special friend Marge Wagner (Gretna). The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 5th from 5pm to 7pm at St. Patrick’s Church, 508 W. Angus Road, Gretna, followed by a VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, April 6th at 10am at St. Patrick’s Church. Interment: Holy Sepulcher Gretna Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery Association (c/o St. Patrick’s Church, Gretna) or St. Patrick’s Church, Gretna.

    I consider it to be a tremendous blessing to be part of this family and to have known and loved Uncle Gene. He was a great man and a very entertaining story teller! It saddens me greatly to say goodbye for now, but we will see each other again. God bless.
