Papillion – Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Sylvia moved to the United States as a young adult, where soon after, she married Bob Ellsworth, her husband of 60 plus years. Together they raised four children. Her working years were spent at Parker Pen, the USPS and OPS. In retirement, she spent countless hours as a volunteer. Directing ” The La Vista Old Timer’s Band” was her favorite activity. She enjoyed writing poetry, watching sports on TV, and politics. She also loved the 3 C’s :  Coffee, cribbage and cold weather.  Irja Sylvia Ellsworth was ever proud of her Finnish heritage, and though she has departed this life, her Finnish “sisu” lives on in all of her children.

Sylvia is survived by children Kelly (Linda) Ellsworth, Ross (Patty) Ellsworth and Kristen (Dave) Malmstrom, all of Omaha, and Joan (Steve) Walker of Tekamah, NE.  Grandchildren: Shelly, Wendy, Amy, Ben, and Sam and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside Service Friday 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Dear Mom, (Irja ‘Sylvia’ Ellsworth)

Your passing seems unreal. Your telephone rings and no answer. A better friend I cannot find. A loving caring mother. I’ll always remember the good times, the special moments and the mother and daughter memories that will never fade over time. Mom you will be missed but forever loved. Your daughter, Kristen.
