Lee was born April 14, 1938 in Laurium, Michigan and spent his early youth in Iron River, Michigan, enjoying skiing and other outdoor activities in the Upper Peninsula. He was the oldest of four children — Mary (Wall), Donovan and David. The family later moved to Carroll, Iowa, where he attended and graduated high school.
He attended Northwest Missouri State University for a time before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where he became manager of Omaha Print and met wife, Marlou. They married Sept. 23, 1961 and had three children — Barry, Brian and Beth (Dillow). Lee was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army reserves and had a long career as a sales representative and later a national sales director for companies such as Norcross, C.R. Gibson, Prince Gardner, Pioneer Photo and D F Albums. The family lived in Sioux City and Bettendorf, Iowa, for a brief time before moving back to Omaha for many years. After children graduated high school, Lee and Marlou moved to Atlanta and Baltimore for his job and returned to the Midwest, settling and retiring in Kansas City.
Lee blended his sales skills and favorite hobby of pen collecting by working at the specialty pen store Pen Place in Kansas City’s Crown Center for several years.
Lee was a proud grandfather of four (Bradley, Michael, Claudia and Louisa), and he enjoyed meeting new people and making lifelong friends wherever he went. He would have so enjoyed being with you here this week … sharing a cup of coffee, having a laugh and maybe even giving you a pen. Lee’s so glad you were part of his story, and looks forward to seeing you in the next chapter.
