Margaret Ann was born December 4, 1922 to Harry & Hannah Vantine. She was the fifth of eight children and grew up on a farm near the town of Nehawka, Nebraska. After graduating from Sterling High School in 1941, she worked as a teacher in a one room country school house near Smartville, Nebraska.
After moving to Omaha in 1943, she worked for Eastman Kodak Company. While there, her co-worker Hugh McIvor introduced Margaret to his brother, Jim. Margaret and Jim were married on May 23, 1947. In 1949 Margaret gave birth to Timothy, just one week after she and Jim had moved into their first house. Three and a half years later, Ronald was born.
Margaret was able to stay home with her two sons by doing laundry and ironing for others. When the boys were in junior high, she returned to work as a secretary, first, at Omaha South High, and later, at the Visiting Nurses Association.
She enjoyed baking for her family, and in addition to cakes and cookies, made a homemade pie nearly every Saturday. Cherry was a favorite of her boys and raisin pie was made especially for her husband.
She was a woman of dedication and service to the Lord. In her retirement, Margaret’s love for the Lord Jesus Christ was demonstrated through her faithful service to the Super Adults and Stamp Ministries at Christ Community Church.
After living 63 years in the same home, Margaret moved to Skyline Retirement Community where the residents and staff brought her joy and comfort in the last six years of her life. Margaret went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by Timothy and his wife Christine, and Ronald and his wife Dianne, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Margaret has left a legacy of love, life, and faith in Jesus Christ and will forever live on in the memories of her loved ones.

I will always remember the time a number of years back when I ran into Margaret in the foyer at Berean Church in Lincoln after a Gospel quartet concert. It was great to see her, as my sister is her Daugher in law, and since she lived in Omaha, it was a fun surprise to see her in Lincoln! She was so excited to be there, like a young girl who had just enjoyed seeing a great concert! We were happy to see each other and enjoyed some fun fellowship in the foyer! Margaret was always good for an interesting, strong discussion about the Lord when I had the privilege to see her. She is definetely with the Lord now and I know Ron and her family can take great comfort in knowing that!
