Marvine L. Nielsen

Marvine Lavahn Heil Nielsen was born February 13, 1927 in Cedar Creek, Nebraska to Frederick and Esther Heil.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harland and Robert.

Marvine was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Louisville Nebraska and attended Louisville High School, graduating in 1944.  Upon graduation, she worked in the office at Ash Grove Cement Company until her marriage to Orville Nielsen on September 3, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  After returning from their honeymoon, Orville and Marvine made their home on the original Nielsen homestead farm in Springfield, Nebraska.

Marvine was a very active member of her church and community.  She played the organ, taught Sunday school and was church secretary for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield, Nebraska.  She was a member of the Springfield Legion Auxiliary and a 4-H leader.  Marvine enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilt making, card playing and crafts.  She was famous for her cinnamon rolls and pies! She worked as a secretary at Platteview High School for a number of years until her retirement in 1977, when she acquired the position as day care provider and babysitter for her first grandchild.

Marvine leaves behind her husband Orville and three children; Rhonda (Mike) Miller, Cindy (Jim) Nodskov and Jeff (Melody) Nielsen; 8 grandchildren, Scott and Pat Hagan, Katie (Tony) Coan, Keith (Jane) Nodskov, Michelle Nodskov, Drew (Kelly) Nielsen, Taylor and Dana Nielsen; 2 Step grandchildren, Joe and Dan Miller, 5 great grandchildren Dom and Selena Coan, Caleb and Collin Hagan, Claire Nodskov and a 6th great grandchild soon to arrive.

Marvine will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
