    Turner family,
I was so sad to see Mike’s obituary in the newspaper the other day. I was active in St. Mark’s youth program as a teen (Chris was a summer intern when I was 12 or 13) and Mike was always one of my favorite people to see at church. I will always remember his sense of humor, and how when he was talking to you, he made you feel like the only person that mattered right then. And he was genuinely interested in our lives, how we were feeling about things, and what we were interested in as young people.

Immediately after finishing junior high, my family and I moved to Omaha. At that point in my life, I was painfully shy, and as my friends from Lincoln continued onto high school and made new friends, I was stuck in a school where it felt like everyone had known each other for years already, and I struggled to find my place. Mike kept in touch with me, often called to ask how I was doing, and was such a huge source of stability and comfort for me. (He even drove to Omaha once and gave me a ride in that black BMW–what a guy!!) These were the days before texting or social media, and I regret losing touch with him before I graduated, but I still often thought of him fondly.

Please know that your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. Mike made a huge impact on my life, and despite not hearing from him in over 10 years, I feel like I have just lost a huge chunk of what made me who I am as an adult. God bless you all.
