Ngoan Nguyen 82, of Eustis Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends November 4th in Omaha, NE.

Ngoan Ngoc Nguyen was born December 7, 1934 in Tinh Nam Dinh, North Vietnam. He was the oldest son with two younger brothers and two younger sisters. He attended grade school and high school in North Vietnam for most of his young life. During a brief time in 1945 -1946 his family fled to South Vietnam where he was schooled by Buddhist monks. His family returned to the North believing there would be better government stability. His family fled for a final time to the South in 1954. He served 21 years in the South Vietnamese army specializing in intelligence work and working with the United States of America. During that time, in 1969, he met and married his wife of 48 years Thao Nguyen. In 1975, hours before the fall of Saigon to communism, he escaped with his pregnant wife and three young children by Vietnamese Naval ship. They would be picked up by an American Navy transport ship in the Philippines and arrive in Guam. His family was graced by the St. John Lutheran church family in Eustis Nebraska. There his family would be sponsored and cared for by the many good families of Eustis. He worked most of his adult life as a general laborer at Monroe in Cozad, Nebraska until he retired at the age of 65. He lived in Eustis from 1975 until late 2014. From 2015- 2017, he and his wife stayed with his youngest daughter and her family in Omaha, NE due to end stage kidney disease. Ngoan loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends watching Nebraska football, playing cards, eating good food, listening to his wife sing karaoke, traveling and fishing. He is preceded in death by his father Quynh Nguyen, his mother My Vu, his brother Thieu Nguyen, his sisters Khanh Nguyen and Chung Nguyen and his youngest brother Quoc Hung Nguyen. He is survived by his wife Thao Nguyen, his children Nhung Nguyen, Mai Palmieri , Cuong Nguyen, Anh Taylor and his six grandchildren David, Hannah, Clair and Samantha Taylor and Ryan and Daniel Palmieri.

Visitation 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday (11/10/17) at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th Street Omaha, Nebraska; Memorial Service 2:00 PM Sunday (11/12/17) at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Eustis, Nebraska.
