Arthur Allen known to family and friends as “Fat” passed away on Thursday February 22, 2018 at the age of 72.  A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas he was born to Albert and Virginia Allen who preceded him in death.

As a youth, Fat was well known for his athleticism in basketball and was a remarkable player at Omaha Central High School and later at UNO.  He dedicated 31 years of his life for the Omaha Police Department before retiring in 2003.
He spent most of his time going to the stores every day, especially Walmart.  There he would see his niece LaMetra and give her a very hard time and get the Tuesday new release movie.  He had quite the collection, all alphabetized.
Fat was a very private person.  He kept to himself and didn’t want to be bothered much.  If he didn’t want company he wouldn’t answer the door.  There would be times when someone would be knocking on the door and he would be sitting in the living room or peeking out the window laughing because he didn’t let them in.  The next time he saw that person he would tell them or tell someone else what he did.  He also loved to play dominos and spades.  He was a very self sufficient and independent person who always kept himself busy.

Arthur is preceded in death by his brother and best friend David Allen, brother; James Allen, parents; Albert and Virginia Allen.  He leaves to cherish his memories brothers; Albert Allen Jr. (Betty), Andrew Allen (Lois), Mel Allen, Donald Allen, sisters; Helen Durant (Cleo), Betty Trimble (Keith), Beverly Hill and Sandra Holmon, favorite niece; Lametra Allen-Lemus (Richardo) and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Arthur “Fat” Allen will be 4:00pm Friday, March 2, 2018 at Roeder Mortuary 50th Ames Chapel.  Private family interment will be at a later date.
