David Jackson “Big Daddy” was an amazing father, brother, Paw Paw and friend. He touched many lives through the years. Born in Omaha, Nebraska to Mattie Mae Taylor and Tony Vernal Herbert, he was the second oldest son. He shared a great bond with his siblings and family. Very close to his maternal grandmother Fannie Mae Fulton, by age 18 he was set to join the United States Army. A tough decision, but ultimately the best decision. David would return from duty and watch both his mother and grandmother light up with both relief and joy at the sight of him. While serving 22 years in the United States Army, upon retirement David chose to settle and become a resident in Monroe, Louisiana where he would reside until his passing. He was an active member and Deacon of Seigle Community Baptist Church and Associated member/Deacon of Philadelphia Word Church, both of Louisiana.
