March 18, 1915 – Oct. 8, 2017
Henry Joseph Teckmeyer, known to all of us as ” “Hank,” was born March 18, 1915 in Omaha. An only child, Hank grew up creating his own adventures around South 0. Throughout his teens, Hank cultivated what would be a lifelong love of baseball while he played for various American Legion teams. The forced independence and creativity of his childhood served him well when he went to study at Van Sant School of Business after graduating from South High School. Just two years later, armed with business knowledge and short-hand skills, Hank started work for the Union Pacific Railroad. This job would provide to him his entire livelihood and more importantly his wife, Rosemary.
Before meeting Rosemary in the figure skating club at UP, Hank stepped away from the railroad and gave three years of service to his country and the U S. Army. After working as a technical sergeant throughout Europe and Africa, Hank returned home to settle down as a proud veteran.
The best years of Hank’s life began June 9, 1951, when he and Rosemary Lee Monzingo started their life together. The next 66 years brought two kids, five grandchildren and an abundance of wonderful memories.  Hank attended Temple Baptist Church with Rosemary, Tom and Jan for all of his married life.
Outside of church and family activities, Hank could be found in West Memorial Stadium nearly every Husker game day for more than 80 years. When not cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, he was often found at home following the New York Yankees or in his seats at Rosenblatt Stadium for the College World Series. In his latter years, he thoroughly enjoyed watching all five of his grandchildren participate in school and sports activities.
Today, we celebrate Hank’s life and look forward to seeing him again in God’s kingdom.
