9/22/1923 – 2/13/2017

Omaha – Harold Kyle McMinn passed away of natural causes on February 13, 2017 at age 93.  Hal was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on September 22, 1923.  His early life was forged in the hard times of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl years of the 1930’s.  Hal was only ten years old when his father died.  At age 11, he was already working at the town bakery to help support his large family.  It was at Buffalo High School that he met his beloved wife of 73 years, Ruby Moore, and married her in 1942.  A year later, Hal was drafted into the U.S. Army.

Hal became a 32nd degree Mason while in Salt Lake City.  He later took great joy as a Shrine clown in Omaha.  He was known as The Joker and he went out of his way to help people and expected nothing in return.  He was awarded the Bronze Jordan Medal of Honor as the oldest member of Shiloh Lodge.  Hal was an accomplished woodworker and lifelong learner who loved to travel.  He was a man of integrity and loved to tell jokes.  He will always be remembered with laughter. He was also an active resident of the Immanuel Village Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby.  He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses: Chuck (Sally), Doug (Jan), Brad (Gail), and Kay Glidden (Rob); 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Hal and Ruby always dedicated themselves to their family.

Memorial Service 2:00 PM Thursday (2/16/2017) at Immanuel Village Community Room 6803 N. 68th Plaza Omaha, Nebraska

In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to The Omaha Home for Boys.
