Edie Skrobo (Rock)

Edie was born and raised in Omaha Nebraska. Throughout a career which provided her the ability to travel the world, she continued to make her home in the Omaha area. She was a 1977 graduate of Westside High School where she excelled as a track athlete. She was also a 1981 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she studied mathematics, earned a teaching degree and became a lifelong Husker fan. She began her career teaching math in the Elkhorn School District, and was eventually recruited by ACI Worldwide where she began a long, successful career in the financial world. She loved her work, traveling the globe and making many lifelong friends. Always based in Omaha, she worked for several companies before wrapping her career as a business analyst at TD Ameritrade.

Edie enjoyed entertaining and had something of an obsession for both the Grinch (who‘s heart grew three times that day!) and Punxsutawney Phil, who she got to watch in person look for his shadow a couple of times! She also was a major fan of Cirque Du Soleil, attending as many shows whenever and wherever as possible, and was an accomplished jewelry maker. But her true passion was for animals. For many years, she volunteered at the Nebraska Humane Society and fostered rescue dogs at her home along with her own very pampered pets.

Edie was a bit of an adrenaline junkie and enjoyed water skiing, sporty cars and motorcycles. Her cycling went green when she became an avid long distance bicycle rider. It was in this pursuit that she finally met the love of her life, Jim. The two would be married in June of 2014 near a bike trail they both enjoyed. She called Northwest Hills Church her church home where she was an active member and enjoyed spending time with her church family.

Edie was preceded in death by her parents Don and Mary Ann Rock, grandparents Edith(Gammy) and John(Gramps) Hemplemen, Clyde and Jean Rock. She is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her brother Tom Rock and his wife Chris, nephews, Alex, Sean (Richelle), and Connor (Liz). Sister-in-law, Janet Haffner and her husband Matt, nephew Brett and niece Kate. Cousins Jackie Johnson, Joann Namer and Jim Preston, extended family and many, many great friends and colleagues.
Memorial Service Saturday 10:00 AM (6/15/2019) at Northwest Hills United Church of Christ 9334 Fort St. Private Interment. Memorials to Humane Society or VNA Hospice.
