9/11/1956 – 10/30/2016

Jeanne Reece Saunto was born on Sept. 11, 1956 to loving parents Gene and Mary Reece in Omaha, Neb. She was the only girl out of seven children and a treasure for her Mom and Dad.  Jeanne was raised in North Omaha, starting her Catholic education at Holy Angels. After her family moved to West Omaha, she completed grade school at St. Pius X. She attended Marian High school for one year before transferring to Burke High School, graduating in 1974.  During these formative years, she made lifelong friends that remain to this day.  She also made her family proud, especially being the only girl among six brothers, handling that situation with love, laughter and encouragement.

Jeanne began her work career at Westin Hotel Reservations, where she made more friends and enjoyed the perks that working at Westin Hotels brought.  She moved for a short time to Vancouver, Wash., making many fine memories that she always shared. She moved back to Omaha in the 1980’s and worked for Elliot Beechcraft. She met Dan “Muri” Saunto, who became the love of her life, and her husband in 1990. This relationship brought an even wider circle of friends.  Soon, Jeanne experienced some health challenges, which she handled with laughter and hope.  She went to work at US West and enjoyed a good career there, working with the company’s charitable functions. Another bout with health conditions made it too difficult to remain there.  Despite her setbacks, Jeanne was a loving, encouraging daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

All throughout Jeanne’s life, and wherever she went, her capacity to love and be loved by friends and family was boundless. Many longtime friends were instrumental in helping her enjoy her life and live it to the fullest. Jeanne’s friends became her family’s friends.  Her family was very proud of her and loved her very much. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the support Jeanne received from her friends through the years.
