Jewell Emery Turner was born August 3, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska, the fifth child of a family of five, to the union of Emery Howard and Elnora (Rose) Turner.
He was united in marriage to Willie Eva Tillman, June 21, 1975. Together they raised Jewell Christopher Turner, Jevell Charee Turner-Dunlap, and Brenda Johnson of High Point, NC.
Jewell graduated in 1964 from Tech High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He received a football scholarship to Huron University in South Dakota. He worked for Fruehauf Trailer Company for 25 years before retiring.
Jewell was soft spoken, but out-spoken when it came to talking about God’s word the Bible. He was a generous man. He enjoyed playing football and wrestling in high school, fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, welding and tinkering in his garage making things.
Jewell was preceded in death by his son, Jewell Christopher Turner; his parents, Emery Howard and Elnora (Rose) Turner; his brother, Dennis Howard Turner; his two sisters, Roberta Lee (Rose) Spencer and Beverly Loretta (Turner) Moore.
Jewell is survived by his wife, Willie Eva (Tillman) Turner; daughter, Jevell Turner-Dunlap; his sister, Cheryl L. (Turner) Amos of Cedar Hill, TX; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The highlight of his life was when he became a student of the Bible. Through his studies of the scriptures, he was convinced that serving Jehovah was the most rewarding and best was of life. As a result, he dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 21, 1981.
Jewell believed in the Bible’s promise of a time when death will be no more, when billions who have fallen asleep in death will be brought back to life on a paradise earth. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he drew comfort in the resurrection hope through the promise of his God, Jehovah.
