Linda L. Plettner

Linda Lee Plettner was born September 7, 1943 in Friend, NE to Karl and Marie Moul Plettner. The first grandchild on both sides of the family gave her a very special place of honor. The family moved to Valley, NE and experienced farm life until they eventually moved into town. The move was during Linda’s high school years and she liked being in town with all her friends. The friends she made during high school remained close to her all through the years. She renewed even more of the Valley High connections by chairing several High School reunions, including the “All-School Reunion” in 2014 and the upcoming event in August 2016. Linda was an honored nurse at Clarkson Hospital for 38 years. She loved her work, her coworkers, and most of all, the patients. Friends she made at the hospital continued to enjoy Linda’s company even after her retirement. Frequent “get-togethers” with special friends- LaRue, Lorrie, Patty, Minnie and Linda T., provided the much-valued link back to her days as an RN. Linda was an active member of Peace Presbyterian Church, and although she lived in Elkhorn she still enjoyed the occasional trip to Valley where she volunteered at the Valley Historical Society. She is preceded in death by her parents, and many beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins. Linda made many trips to Columbus to visit her favorite Uncle Glen. The two of them shared many humorous discussions over the years. She truly loved watching the multi-generational Plettner family grow and blossom.

Linda is survived by her sister Beth Nave of Hendersonville, NC. She and Beth spoke on the phone daily to discuss current events: international, national and familial, and these discussions always ended in riotous laughter. She was an avid reader, remembered everything she ever read, saw, did or wore! Her recall was unprecedented, as was her trenchant wit. Although Linda was very ill the last years of her life, she soldiered on bravely, accomplishing things the rest of us couldn’t even imagine. Linda died March 15th at Methodist Hospital and joined Mom and Dad in Heaven.

She will be missed and never forgotten.

At her request, no service will be held. Memorials may be sent to Peace Presbyterian Church Elkhorn, NE.
