Elma was a very caring and loving person that was liked by everyone. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Alvin “Al” Poppe; four sons: Roy Canterbury, Jimmie (Becky) Canterbury, Kenneth Canterbury and Gary Canterbury; two step-daughters: Kimberly (Terry) Currey and Vicki (Mike) Scanlon; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Elma Dickman; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Harold Netwig; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Harry Adams; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Marion Dickman; and sister, Thelma Drey.

FUNERAL SERVICE Monday, March 30th at 11am Roeder Mortuary 108th Street Chapel with VISITATION one hour prior. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.

Harriet Gilmore

7/6/1927 – 2/20/2015

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and died peacefully in Omaha with family at her side. A devoted wife, loving mother and doting G’ma, she lived a life full of grace, humility and integrity. A full-time homemaker and mom, she was also a lifelong volunteer in her Church, community and children’s schools. Mom was an intrepid traveler, exploring all the continents with her childhood sweetheart and husband, Joe, until his death (2007) after 57 years of marriage. A rabid Cornhusker fan, she also took delight in Big Band music, gardening and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved, Joseph P. Gilmore, and sisters, Marion Gilmore and Jeanette Hamblin. She is survived by children, Cathy Dietz (John), JoAnne Grove (Tom), Dennis Gilmore (Nancy), Gerry Gilmore (Cathy). G’ma is also survived by grandchildren, Robert, Joseph and Maggie Dietz; Mike, Nick and Beth Grove; Claire and John Gilmore; Brooke and Danny Gilmore; and great-grandchildren Isabel and Tristan.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at New Cassel Chapel, 900 N. 90th St. on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00pm with refreshments after. Mom loved red. In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the Joseph and Harriet Distinguished Investigator Award Fund, 2285 S. 67th St, Suite 200, Omaha, NE 68106.
