Omaha – Sharon Ann (Krous) Allerheiligen was born 02-28-42 to Roy G. Krous and Mary Ann (Blumer) Krous in Marysville, Kansas. She worked for Marysville Mutual from high school until she married. She married Richard Dean Allerheiligen on April 12, 1964 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Marysville, Kansas.
They relocated to Glenwood, Iowa where Rich was Safeway Store
Manager at the time. Sharon spent her
time volunteering for March of Dimes and Trinity Lutheran Church as well as
helping out at Safeway. As a couple,
they enjoyed square dancing and bowling.
They had two daughters: Angela Sue and Julie Ann. Sharon focused her life on her family and her
faith. She belonged to the Ladies Aid
group, she taught a week day Sunday School class for preschoolers and served on
the Alter Guild. She was a member of the
Preschool Mothers’ Club in Glenwood.
Sharon served as vice president and then president of the Glenwood Band
Parents Association for six consecutive years.
She worked for the Glen Haven nursing home as a nurse’s aide. She was known for her empathy with the
residents. She worked in food services
for the Glenwood Community School District and later the Glenwood Resource
Center for 22 years. Sharon enjoyed
cooking and entertaining, from parties for the Safeway employees to Christmas
Open Houses and hosting Julie’s High School drama cast parties.
In 2002, she and Rich retired and moved from Glenwood to Omaha,
Nebraska to be closer to their daughters and granddaughters. They looked after their granddaughters,
Shelby Ann and Alyssa Paige, during their younger years. Both Grandma and Grandpa spent many hours
chauffeuring to school and extracurricular activities. This continued for Sharon until her health
started to fail.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Doug
and Wayne (Connie) Krous as well as three infant brothers. She is survived by her husband of 54 years
Richard; daughters Angela Allerheiligen and Julie (Greg) Betterton;
granddaughters Shelby and Alyssa Betterton all of Omaha as well as her brother
Leon (Rosalie) Krous of Salina, Kansas, 11 nieces and nephews and special
friend of 52 years, Wanda Mathison, of Crescent, Iowa.
