12/21/1938 – 11/12/2018
William (Bill) Fredrick Sewell, 79, passed away on November 12, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Bill was born on December 21, 1938 in Washington DC to James and Marian Sewell. He attended Dunbar High School in Washington DC and then enlisted to serve his country as a member of the United States Air Force. While on one of his first overseas assignments in 1958, Bill met his “Schatz”, Annelore Margaret Baumann, and they were married on May 7, 1960 in Landstuhl, Germany.
During his twenty year career with the United States Air Force, Bill worked in communications. He served and was injured in the Viet Nam War. Over the years, Bill and his family were stationed in Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, various bases throughout Germany, and his last assignment at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska where he retired in 1976.
After retiring from his military service, Bill and family moved to Omaha where they started civilian life and his three youngest children finished high school. Bill entered a new career as a bus driver with Metro Area Transit (MAT) where he worked for twenty years. Upon retiring from MAT, Bill was unable to remain idle so he took on a part-time job at Hertz Car Rental for a few years transporting cars locally throughout Nebraska and Iowa. In recent years, Bill chose to no longer work, but rather enjoy a leisurely life of retirement at home in Omaha with his wife.
Bill is preceded in death by parents, James and Marian; brother, James Sewell; sister, Beverly Johnson; and nephew, Keith Sewell. Bill is survived by his wife, Annelore Margaret; children: Raymond (Deb) Sewell, C.
