Katie Mae “Curry” Waytes Age 87 of Omaha, NE passed away on September 9, 2018. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to Willie and Estelle (Curry) Gibson. She was preceded in death by her husband; Howard, parents and great-grandson; Justin Scaife, Jr. Katie is survived by her sons; Keith (Elaine) Waytes, Kevin Waytes and Kenneth Waytes, daughters; Kim Waytes and Karen Waytes, 15- grandchildren, 29- great-grandchildren, 2-great-great-grandchildren, sister; Juanita Gibson, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service: 12:00 PM Friday, September 14, 2018 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 4504 Bedford Street, Omaha, Nebraska, with Visitation 1 hour prior to the service; Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery Omaha, Nebraska.

Deborah E. Greene

5/17/1957 – 9/2/2018

Missionary Deborah Elizabeth Greene was the second child born to James and DeLois Morris born on May 17, 1957 in Paris, Texas. The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1959 where Deborah attended Long and Conestoga Elementary Schools, McMillian Jr. High, Tech High School and graduated from North High School in 1975. Deborah obtained her cosmetology license before graduating high school.

On December 15, 1975, Deborah married Bruce Greene and that union welcomed two daughters: Alisha Dionne and TaRae Danielle.

Missionary Deborah was a master of all trades. She styled hair, she sewed clothes, played the organ and blessed many with her singing voice. Missionary Deborah grew up in the church singing with the infamous Morris Family Group. Later she formed her own group The Greene Family with her daughters.

Missionary Deborah was very active in church. She served as the State Minister of Music of the Nebraska Eastern Jurisdiction and the Minister of Music at Mt. Zion C.O.G.I.C. She was also the president of the Young Women’s Christian Counsel (Y.W.C.C.)

Missionary Deborah was preceded in death by her father, James Morris and by her grandparents Elder Eddie and Minnie Beauford and Joseph and Florence Morris.

Missionary Deborah is survived by her mother DeLois Morris; daughters: Alisha Reese and TaRae (Fred) Peoples; siblings: Beverly (Fred) Falkner, Sharone (Thomas) Taylor, James (Cheryl) Morris, and Ralph (Annette) Falkner; grandchildren: Alyse Peoples, Michaela Reese, Michelle Reese, Alyssa Peoples, Kennedy Reese, Princeton Peoples, and Kherington Peoples; Special friend: Lon V. Goodin and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, September 14, 2018 at Eagles Nest Worship Center 5775 Sorensen Parkway Omaha, Nebraska, with Visitation 1 hour prior to service; Interment  Forest Lawn Cemetery Omaha, Nebraska.

Rosetta L. Herron

10/11/1927 – 9/8/2018

Rosetta L. Herron was born October 11, 1927 to O.C. Joseph and Carrie Mayberry-Joseph. She entered into rest on September 8, 2018.

Rosetta attended Kellom elementary, then went on to Central High School until the 11th grade. She worked as a housekeeper for many years and then she worked as a janitor at Tip Top. From Tip Top she worked at University Hospital until she retired 1995. After she retired, she joined the foster grandparent program starting at Boystown National Hospital in the playroom. She would visit with the children that had surgery so that their parents could take a break and run errands. When she left Boystown she became Grandma Rosetta to the students and staff at Druid Hill Elementary until August 24th, 2018.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Herron, brothers Harold, O.C. Joseph Jr, and Willie Joseph, sisters Lenora Wickware, Frances Hill, Mary Jo Williams, and great granddaughter Danayasia K. Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Rosetta Renee Joseph, Son-in-law Clarence Tobias, brother John W. Joseph, and sister Linda Jones. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amber M. Joseph, Alexis S. Joseph, Richard A. Joseph, Nathaniel Cook I; great grandchildren: Aariha R. Joseph, Nautica Y. Joseph, Nariya K. Joseph, and Nathaniel L. Joseph; and many, many other family members, and friends.
