Patricia Velma Givens Barron known to all as “Big Mama” born on February 4, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. Proceeded in death by her parents Charles Elmer “Bassie” Givens and Lena Yarber Givens, brother Elmer Givens Jr., and Veotis Givens.

Patricia attended Kellom elementary and graduated from Central high school in 1960. After graduating high school, Patricia joined the United States Navy where she spent four years performing bookkeeping duties until the time of her discharge as a 3rd class petty officer. Patricia also attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she studied sociology.

Patricia was the founder of Big Mama’s Kitchen & Catering a national known restaurant featuring soul food located in the heart of North Omaha.

Patricia is survived by sister Lillie McCoy (DeRoyce Dorsey, Grayson OK), brother Raymond Givens (Virgilia, Omaha, NE). Daughters Donna Harrison, Deborah Craddock, Delena Givens-Brown (Steve Brown) and Gladys Harrison.

Patricia leaves to mourn 17 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted daughter’s, other relatives and close friends.
