Obituary of A Virtuous Woman

Pinka Ryan Anderson was the eldest daughter born to Lula Ryan and Nathaniel Davis on June 21, 1924 in Rose Hill, MS. She realized that she wanted the Lord to lead and guide her life. She was not baptized the way we are today. She was dipped in the creek behind the church.

Pinka attended school in Jasper County. The school was actually a church house, teaching ages 8-18. Back then, this was equivalent to 1st through 12th grade. She furthered her education by attending college for two years.

On July 19, 1943, she united in holy matrimony with Robert Payne Anderson, Sr. Their union created 9 children, 23 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pinka was employed at several hotel restaurants throughout Omaha. She retired to be a full-time grandma for her family.

She joined Mt Calvary Community Church in 1944 and remained a faithful member for over 73 years. She was church treasurer for over 19 years and founder of the Daughters of Mt. Calvary. She would make Mother’s Day special with the paper flowers she made every year. Christmas wouldn’t have been Christmas without the sweet cookies she baked. Pinka had taken the children’s choir under her wing and she would help fundraise for activities and functions for the youth.

Her door and heart were always open to anyone, no matter who or why.

Pinka was preceded in death by her husband Robert, Sr.; 2 sons Robert, Jr. and Warren, Sr.; daughter Barbara; grandchildren Dana and Michael; her sisters; and her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Charles, Derrick, Sr., and Mark Steven; her daughters Ida, Stacey. And Judi; and daughters-in-law Ronnette and Elvesa; all of which are in Omaha. In addition, she leaves behind grandchildren Warren, Jr., Robert, III, Martin, Reginald, Michelle, Marcey, Derrick, Jr., Channel, David, Margaret, April, Deanna, Shari, Arthur, and Charles in Omaha, Brandon in Mobile, AL, Charles in Colorado Springs, CO, Stacey of Andrews AFB, Waldorf, MD, and Marcus in Coyle, OK.
