Omaha. Preceded in death by wives, Evelyn and June. Survived by his children, Suzy Hancock, Linda Jensen (Robert), Robert Hancock, and John Smith (Joyce); 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris Broderson (Tom), and Joyce Smith; and many family and friends.

VISITATION is Tuesday 5-7:00pm. FUNERAL SERVICE is Wednesday (4/15/2015) at 10:00am at Roeder Mortuary. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Benson VFW #2503.

    Thanks for all the great memories Grandpa! My fondest are the trips to Dodge Park & Hummel Park for picnics & the swimming trips to DeSoto Bend. Thanks for sharing stories about your Navy Seabee experiences during WWII & your which broadened my reading interests. Loved holidays with you & the rest of the family. I’m blessed to have been able to visit you on many occasions over the last few years & happy I got to spend time with you for your birthday in January. I love you & will miss you. “See you on the other side!”

    Smitty was a great guy who was always so friendly whenever I saw him. I first met him as a young kid and he made you feel like one of the adults. Rest in Peace.
