Omaha – Sharon Ann (Krous) Allerheiligen was born 02-28-42 to Roy G. Krous and Mary Ann (Blumer) Krous in Marysville, Kansas.  She worked for Marysville Mutual from high school until she married.  She married Richard Dean Allerheiligen on April 12, 1964 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Marysville, Kansas.

They relocated to Glenwood, Iowa where Rich was Safeway Store Manager at the time.  Sharon spent her time volunteering for March of Dimes and Trinity Lutheran Church as well as helping out at Safeway.  As a couple, they enjoyed square dancing and bowling.

They had two daughters: Angela Sue and Julie Ann.  Sharon focused her life on her family and her faith.  She belonged to the Ladies Aid group, she taught a week day Sunday School class for preschoolers and served on the Alter Guild.  She was a member of the Preschool Mothers’ Club in Glenwood.  Sharon served as vice president and then president of the Glenwood Band Parents Association for six consecutive years.

She worked for the Glen Haven nursing home as a nurse’s aide.  She was known for her empathy with the residents.  She worked in food services for the Glenwood Community School District and later the Glenwood Resource Center for 22 years.  Sharon enjoyed cooking and entertaining, from parties for the Safeway employees to Christmas Open Houses and hosting Julie’s High School drama cast parties.

In 2002, she and Rich retired and moved from Glenwood to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to their daughters and granddaughters.  They looked after their granddaughters, Shelby Ann and Alyssa Paige, during their younger years.  Both Grandma and Grandpa spent many hours chauffeuring to school and extracurricular activities.  This continued for Sharon until her health started to fail.

Sharon is preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Doug and Wayne (Connie) Krous as well as three infant brothers.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years Richard; daughters Angela Allerheiligen and Julie (Greg) Betterton; granddaughters Shelby and Alyssa Betterton all of Omaha as well as her brother Leon (Rosalie) Krous of Salina, Kansas, 11 nieces and nephews and special friend of 52 years, Wanda Mathison, of Crescent, Iowa.

    Rich, Angie and Julie,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Sharon was like a second mother to me on Center Street. I remember vividly her baked goods (the donuts always a favorite) and her fear of garden snakes; however, my favorite memory was just how mad she was at me for thinning Angie’s hair. I was in the dog house for that one for sure! May all of your memories carry you through the difficult days ahead.

      Teresa,

Thanks for your message of condolance. Center street holds a lot of memories. She was pretty upset with both of us for the hair thing. However, that did not cause as much trouble to my hair as the time the shop used the perm solution to wrap my hair and fried it. Tell your family hello. God Bless.
